AGENT MILLWARD

Post by larger and black »

Does anybody out there agree that Millward was convieniently sacked from St. Helens (plastic scousers), when our beloved team was looking for a replacement for Mike Gregory ? We have 1 of the best selection of British and overseas players, but can't even beat Salford.
bring back dangermouse to sniff out all aussie plastic scouse secret agents the warriors need u !!!!! :sly:

Can't blame you for thinking that. At times I get that paranoid too but I don't think it was all convenience. The scousers aren't clever enough to think up all that, don't give them that much credit!

Few points and scenarios to think about on that topic:

Millward took over from Betts who hadn't lost us a game to Saints. We then lost 75-0 and 70-0 in two weeks.

Millward seen as a good enough coach to sign up for 3 years. So, we have to pay him for those years if we sack him? Or, we keep him. If he keeps the team playing this way, how the hell can we keep him for 3 years?

Millward sees this job as a stroll in the park. He has a contract for 3 years. If he signs good players, it looks good for him. He's tried to sign class but they haven't played as a team and we continue to lose because of this. He continues to get paid the same high package win or lose and we continue to pay his wages.

Millward decided the team we had this year wouldn't work, he gets rid of most of them and signs new players. We are now back to the same position as we're in now, believing that eventually these 'professionals' will click.

Now do you see why the whole paranoid thing gets into peoples heads at time. This club is in a complete mess at this moment. We're not progressing despite what comments may brainwash some of you into thinking, and despite Millwards history with clubs. He can only work with what he's got. Right now he's got to get these players working as a team, he has no choice.

I can't help remembering the Saints attitude when he coached them. After we scored our last try, we were 11 points behind with about 10 minutes to play. That Saints team would have believed they could win, and often did! We just didn't look interested...strolling to scrums, no sense of urgency, no belief in themselves.

Sorry but Millward took over before our biggest defeat by the scousers! If you remember back it was a big deal for him to go to Knowsley (**** hole)rd, I remember singing Ian Millwards Barmy Army at 48-0!! You may not think that St Helens are clever enough, but they are sly b****s, they don't get that reputation for nowt, I know I grew up with them!!

I know? That was my first point, the fact we hadn't lost or been nilled even but then the first game he has us for, we lose 75-0.

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds
