Because if you want your squad to be able to compete when we pick up the odd injury, we need players to have been playing games. You also need to keep players on their toes. I'm sure Peet could give you a huge, detailed explanation why you can't play the same 17 every weekSuzieb wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 7:19 am Why does mp keep changing the team we are only 6 games into the season and we should not be resting players it’s quite obvious that Mago cust Ellis are not good enough throw in KPP who’s head seems to be somewhere else and we do have problems but rotating these players who are not good enough is not the answer as someone else said we did look better with french at 1 and field at 6 but the rest I do not know Salford threw the ball about and we’re unlucky to lose but for French they would of won

Re: Tactics
I think you're being a tad harsh. He's copped a lot of stick online for his goal kicking percentage but I only really recall the odd one or two where you'd expect most kickers to score and he hasn't. He seemed to find his groove last night and hopefully he takes that into next weekjosie andrews wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 7:09 amToday! What about next week? Or more importantly the week after? How often does Sneyd or Makinson miss a kick from any position? That’s all I’m saying.Blackpool_Pie wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 3:17 amHis goal kicking today was excellent. What if, heaven forbid ,Smith got injured? We have no other specialised goal kickers & we never see players practicing goal kicking during the warm up anymore/
Harry can have his off days too with his goal kicking!

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Team shouldn’t need changing so much during the game.Blackpool_Pie wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 8:26 amBecause if you want your squad to be able to compete when we pick up the odd injury, we need players to have been playing games. History tells us that majority, if not all, successful teams have stability in their 13/17 and only rotate the forwards and maybe the hooker during the game.

Re: Tactics
I'm hoping that he's changing the team because the players aren't performing well enough to keep their places. The problem is if Peet drops Mago, Ellis and KPP who plays in their place? Singleton, Cooper, Isa aren't playing well either.Suzieb wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 7:19 am Why does mp keep changing the team we are only 6 games into the season and we should not be resting players it’s quite obvious that Mago cust Ellis are not good enough throw in KPP who’s head seems to be somewhere else and we do have problems but rotating these players who are not good enough is not the answer as someone else said we did look better with french at 1 and field at 6 but the rest I do not know Salford threw the ball about and we’re unlucky to lose but for French they would of won
Though I was a little concerned to read in the matchday programme that Liam Byrne thought it was hard to fight for his place because the forwards were doing so well. I hope that was just being a supportive teammate otherwise the bar is set staggeringly low.

You can’t say we need back up goal kickers and not complain about Harry.josie andrews wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 8:58 amI’m not complaining about Harry, I’m saying we should have backup goal kickers.Blackpool_Pie wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 8:27 amI think you're being a tad harsh. He’s either good enough to be our goal kicker or he isn’t.
Of course having backups is good in case of injury, but that’s it.

Re: Tactics
Just cos you don't see anyone practising before the game doesn't mean they won't practice in training. IIRC Field used to kick, Smith landed two tricky ish kicks last night which won the game.

Re: Tactics
I have my own reservations about Cust, but creating an urban myth, or overstating your case doesn't help your argument.
His "nothing" included the vision and execution of the kick that created our first try iirc
