Re: Team for Saints
Really pleased to see Shorrocks playing so well. Great attitude in that he didn't 'spit the dummy' when on loan at Leigh and then adjusted back to the first team very quickly. I was expecting to see Joe at 13 and Powell at 6 but Peet seems to have come up with a better solution. We all know that Joe's not a stand off but he did what was expected of him plus some additional 'extra effort' last minute defence. I wonder if he'll always be considered just a valuable squad player (in which case we may not be able to hang onto him) or if he can nail down a starting spot in future. What value do you put on a player who isn't our best in any position but can play to a good level in four positions? To me, he looks best suited to playing 13 but Morgan had his best game ever yesterday so I'll be interested to see what Peet does with Joe over the next few weeks.
In a similar vein, great to see Miski take his chance again. From being one of our two most 'expendable imports' he now looks an important first teamer at least until Jai returns.

French moving from the wing has ignited our season, in more ways than one. Bevan getting his hands on the ball much more is a massive plus but also having Miski/King on the wing has resulted in much better kick returns which has put us on the front foot more regularly.southportcdm wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 2:32 pm Really pleased to see Shorrocks playing so well. Hope the lads OK but Matautia has to be looking at a ban on top of his HIA break for the hit on Shorrocks. Ball long gone despite Wilkin and his redvee specs saying it was marginal .

I’ve been saying this for years. I can’t stand listening to them prattling on about anything other than the game they’re watching. It’s because of this I end up not watching other teams because of the inane rubbish they keep spoutingCharriots Offiah wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 12:08 pmThe overall commentary is very poor. Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Honestly a couple of blokes down the pub would be far more.professionalCharriots Offiah wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 12:08 pmThe overall commentary is very poor. It was like three blokes having a chat in the pub.

Re: Team for Saints
I've not seen a replay of his injury, but from what I saw it was a really reckless challenge from him which put himself and havard in danger
Re: Team for Saints
I’ve seen it but only in full speed as they didn’t show replays. I get the challenge, he was trying to lift his team but it was a bit reckless. Havard isn’t the man to try that on (as shown) because he’s such an awkward shape (all knees, hips and elbows) and his footwork is excellent.Blackpool_Pie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 8:13 pmI've not seen a replay of his injury, but from what I saw it was a really reckless challenge from him which put himself and havard in danger
I don’t think there’s anything they’ll ban him for in that challenge but he hit Shorrocks late earlier on and he’ll get a game for that due to his previous record. You’d imagine he’s going to be sat down with his concussion for a couple of weeks minimum anyway. Two of those back to back is bad news.
Re: Team for Saints
He can't blame anybody but himself for what happened, hope he's ok in the long run but I've no sympathy at all,it was out of control and reckless.
