I’m not slagging Singo off after yesterday it is a general observation. I thought he did ok against Saints but, my overall impression is that Father Time has caught up with him. Hopefully, he will prove me wrong however I don’t expect him to be at Wigan next season.Mickw wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 12:04 am How can you slag players off after that today, Singleton did his bit ,was our so called poor pack dominated by the world champions, I don't reckon it was,we lost a marquee player in Bateman just before the season and haven't replaced him, leave it out for one day at least ffs.

Cooper is a solid professional and an asset to the team.
We will miss him.

If we want to continue to compete with the top teams next season and beyond we need to replace both Mago and Singleton. Most fans agreed that Mago (and Ellis) would have to improve on last season and he hasn't done so yet but he should get more chances now that Cooper is injured. So far Ellis does seem to have improved from last season. I'm really hoping that Cooper's injury isn't an ACL because I think that would leave us seriously considering whether or not we keep him after this season. He's bee a good signing so far, and was playing well yesterday, but recovering top form after an ACL at his age would be a big ask.

I think we will see two new props and a second row forward at Wigan next season.southportcdm wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 2:15 pm If we want to continue to compete with the top teams next season and beyond we need to replace both Mago and Singleton. I think that Singo is done, but that there is potentially a good player in Mago. He played and was 18th man a lot of times in a good Souths side. Hopefully, we will see it soon.
I doubt it will be any day soon, but I would like to watch a game where wigan had the bigger of the 2 packs one day.

We have seen exactly what Mago is / isn’t.Exiled Wiganer wrote: ↑Sat Apr 08, 2023 3:13 pm I think that Singo is done, but that there is potentially a good player in Mago. He played and was 18th man a lot of times in a good Souths side. Hopefully, we will see it soon.

Sometimes lads just don’t want it enough and I think that’s Mago to a tee. He seems a nice lad, laid back and the sort of character the players all like to be around but he’s just so lax in everything he does. He doesn’t look like he’s ever worked hard enough off the field to get himself in better shape and on the field he’s just so dopey. He plays like he’s half asleep most of the time and the errors he makes are so lazy/sloppy. The natural attributes of size, power and skill are obviously there but it’s the things you can’t coach that he lacks. He must be such a frustrating player for a coach to deal with.
As and when he gets another chance this season you’d hope to see a totally different character because he’s playing for his career but I just don’t think he’s got it in him. I’d love to be proved wrong.

We should have done our homework before we signed him.NICKYKISS wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 9:28 am Sometimes lads just don’t want it enough and I think that’s Mago to a tee. Can’t disagree. It’s hard to understand what we were hoping for with him because that lack of grit, attitude, desire etc must always have been there. We need to improve massively in our scouting of props. Ellis is turning out to be a decent signing now but there have been some really poor ones this past decade.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 12:10 pmWe should have done our homework before we signed him.NICKYKISS wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 9:28 am Sometimes lads just don’t want it enough and I think that’s Mago to a tee. I fully agree. There are some lads in SL who are off contract this season who are far better than Mago. Trout, Ashworth, Sao, Satae and would probably cost less against the cap.NICKYKISS wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 1:35 pmCan’t disagree.
