In the version I heard, Fletcher and Moran were in Walkabout together, along with Logan, and he was remonstrating with them both for being obnoxious to a bunch of Wigan fans (who may have been drunk and abusive themselves). There was no mention at all of them scrapping with each other.

There is altogether too much talk of the players being in the pub!

Well, maybe they weren't drinking but were there for some of that Aussie food they're probably missing being so far from home? I had a kangaroo steak there once and it was great.

I was told the story by a close friend who was there. They didn't actually come to blows but it was very heated and Logan still had to intervene. I don't think anyone except the players involved realy know what it was about and I am not going to start making silly assumptions. I have heard that there are often "square ups" in training but this could be down to the competitiveness (have I just made that word up)?

I think you have. There's little sign of anyone at Wigan being particularly competitive this season

Maybe Moran should show the same passion on the field as he does when he's out on the beers!

Mind you - the way he's been playing recently; he may well have been drinking on the job...

I've lost count of the number of "true stories from a reliable source" that I have heard about our players in recent years and very few of them have a grain of truth in them. I was looking at a thread on rlfans the other day which was supposedly about Fletcher and Moran and I was really quite surprised by what it said. When I looked at it again a short while later someone had asked the poster if the story was really true and this imbecile who had written the story had replied and said it wasn't true at all - he had simply made the story up 'cos he didn't have anything else to do at the time - and that is someone who calls themselves a fan! Unfortunately the very young do things like that, thinking it's a laugh, not realising they are potentially blackening someone's character and good name. One of them will do it once too often and the boards will get shut down - God knows how we will let off steam if that happens!
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I try and check things like that before they get too out-of-hand on here, it is something we have to be aware of. A few of us saw another Wigan message board shut down a long time ago due to inappropriate messages being posted (in that case a pornographic picture posted by a Latics fan rather than gossip and rumour), but I know that words have been posted in the past where the individuals being discussed have been very unhappy and threatened to take action.

I'd like to think the Wigan players read these message boards. If they did, they'd see a roughly equal balance of angst and anger at the way things currently are, not just a heap of mindless abuse.

It's not good when people keep on lambasting the same players week in week out, so reasoned discussions - particularly with regard to skilled but off-form individuals like Orr and Moran - can only help. By the same token though, a recent story about Fletcher expressing disappointment about the booing after the Warrington game amazed me. These guys really need to know that Wigan's fans are going through torturous frustration at present, mainly because they can't understand why an expensively assembled team like this one is currently one of the worst in Super League, but also because the near unique situation in Wigan - i.e. the town's sports fans divided between RL and football - can present us with a major problem if the unthinkable happens and we get relegated. We might well claw our way back the following season, but we could have lost a shed-load of support With our glorious recent history, something like that doesn't even bear contemplation.

One way or another, these players need to be told that they MUST get their act together soon.

ANY TIME WHEN A TEAM IS NOT PERFORMING UP TO SCRATCH, REPORTS START TO COME OUT ABOUT TROUBLE BEHIND THE SCENES.
SOMEONE ALWAYS HAS IT FROM " A RELIABLE SOURCE".
PLAYERS FIGHTING, MANAGERS/ PLAYERS FIGHTING ETC.
PEOPLE LOOK FOR EXCUSES ELSEWHERE INSTEAD OF ON THE FIELD.
THIS AS WE ALL KNOW HAPPENS IN ALL SPORTS.
FUNNY HOW THE BEHIND THE SCENES PROBLEMS SEEM TO GO AWAY AFTER A COUPLE OF WINS ISN'T IT ?
IGNORE ALL THIS IDLE GOSSIP AND LETS GET ON WITH THE RUGBY.
