He won one here as well. His form in Australia was nothing short of brilliant but you are not going to accept that because you simply don’t like him.

I thought he was good for the Raiders.Mike wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 9:17 pmHe bailed after one season. Don't think he could hack it.nathan_rugby wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 8:06 pmSo Williams wasn’t good in the NRL because he didn’t win the Grand Final over there?
Think he shocked a lot for how well he did, including myself

Re: George Williams
Williams absolutely played well down under. When there was him, Sutty, Bateman, and our young Harry Rushton from Wigan there and a few other English players like Whitehead etc, we ended up adopting Canberra Raiders for that season and watched a few of their games. He played really well for what it’s worth.

Re: George Williams
I don’t think any sensible Wigan fan could ever say George didn’t play well for us , or have a successful time at Canberra. The problem is how he treated the club on his return, in my opinion he showed no respect whatsoever for the club or fans and unfortunately that will be the overriding memory most fans have

Re: George Williams
That’s different but for some posters to indicate he was ineffective, either at Canberra or Wigan, is just poor form.cherry toffee wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:49 am I don’t think any sensible Wigan fan could ever say George didn’t play well for us , or have a successful time at Canberra. Re: George Williams
The truth is that the NRL structured system suited his style of play but over here he never took the line on to draw defences and tended to just pass the ball on .

Re: George Williams
I've just looked at Williams try assists over here.
2017 - 1st
2018 - 5th
2019 - 3rd
2022 - 8th
2023 - 11th
He was leading the man of steel and Albert Goldthorpe tables by a big margin until his recent injury.
Re: George Williams
Which basically shows the weakness in the system. Standing out in that Wire team is not hard as practically everyone else is playing really poorly. A half who's 11th for try assists should not be leading any polls, apart from the poll for 2nd worst try assists in the comp!No straw damn us wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 1:46 pmI've just looked at Williams try assists over here.

I go off former players who use us in a bidding war
