Post by tory boy »

Heard today we are signing trent barret and adrian morley for free due to discilpinary reasons , the info is sound as its the same bloke who confirmed rads and faz leaving before it was officially annouced , great news , thats what you get when you budget prudently like george osbourne .

Might be coincidence but I heard exactly the same story this morning. I didn't give it much credence, but stranger things have happened

We can't sign Barret unless we ditch Moran (or Dallas or Fletcher which is unlikely). So has Moran been sacked for disciplinary reasons?

Why would we want Morely? That would mean we had six props when they are all fit. Logan, Feka, Seu Seu, Prescott, Hargreaves and then Morely.

You mean, since we got rid of Newton and Sculthorpe we've not got anyone who's going to be banned for half the season for disciplinary reasons so we're bringing in Morley to make sure we're well-covered in the bad behaviour stakes (although he spends a lot of the rest of the season injured so he'd fit in well with our pack at the moment in that respect...)

At least then we could have three always injured one always suspended and two wondering what the hell they were doing on Friday nights between scrums

It would appear that barrett is replacing dallas who finishes this season , as for why would we want morley I think is obvious , he is world class , lets stop thinking so conservatively .

Sorry, nothing will stop me thinking he is overrated, and world class doesn't do us many favours if it's only for half the season. He wasn't particularly impressive when he came over for those few games at the end of last season, and with Salford's revival this year there's always the possibility that he might go to his hometown club instead of us. I have a feeling either Salford or Leeds have first refusal on him if he leaves Sydney in any case...

Just remind me how many british players have we got in the nrl! Morley is the best of 2 , it speaks volumes the the roosters didn't want to lose him , as for overated anymore overated than lets say , logan ,calderwood , moran , orr , I had better stop there . :

The fact he's in the NRL doesn't mean too much either. Keith Mason was playing there a couple of years ago: St Helens don't want him because he's rubbish, even the Saints fans don't want him because he's rubbish, hardly any Wigan fans wanted him when his name was mentioned earlier in the week because he's rubbish, he can't even get a game at Castleford... yet he was in the NRL not long ago.

In any case, at 29 surely Morley is far too old now, he'd be just like all the over-the-hill Aussies coming to Wigan for their pension... (insert sarcasm smiley here)

I'm not going to disagree that might have some other overrated players as well...
