It sounds one sided but there were some great tries & a try on debut for my sponsored player 😊

Women hit a Century against Giants

* Match Report as Wigan Warriors Women scored 18 tries to defeat Huddersfield Giants Women at the John Smith’s Stadium.

* Mary Coleman scored five tries in the win as Anna Davies also crossed for a hat-trick.

* FT | Huddersfield Giants 0-102 Wigan Warriors.

MATCH REPORT AS WIGAN WARRIORS WENT TOP OF THE BETFRED WOMEN’S SUPER LEAGUE TABLE FOLLOWING A 102-0 WIN OVER HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

The Warriors crossed for 18 tries in a dominant victory at the John Smith’s Stadium as Academy products Emma Welsford and Jenna Foubister each scored on their first team debuts.

Victoria Molyneux scored twice on her first outing of the season as Rachel Thompson’s first half double saw the forward hit 150 points for the Club.

Report

The Warriors started with authority in the sunshine as a promising attack down the right edge resulted in the opening try as Thompson powered through the middle to ground next to the sticks. Emma Knowles added the extras to give Wigan a 6-0 lead after six minutes.

The Warriors doubled their advantage two minutes later when a lightning break on the left wing saw Anna Davies and Ellise Derbyshire combine for a one-two before the centre raced clear to dive over. Knowles successfully kicked the additional two points.

Wigan asserted pressure to the Huddersfield defence immediately from the restart as a fantastic solo run from Emma Welsford gained more than 30m before Davies powered through to ground the Warriors’ third try with 11 minutes on the clock. Knowles sent the kick through the posts to make the score 18-0.

The hosts struggled to deal with the Warriors’ pace and power as Mary Coleman added a fourth try soon after when she charged over from close range. Knowles added the extras.

An intercepted pass allowed Huddersfield to gain possession inside the Warriors half for the first time in the contest, however, an attempted kick through was collected to relieve pressure.

Molyneux was introduced to the action mid-way through the half for Abbie Singleton, and shortly after the Warriors were awarded a penalty deep in attacking territory, a short pass allowed Thompson to break the tackle to score and hit 150 points for the Wigan. Knowles maintained her perfect record from the tee to make the score 30-0.

The Warriors surpassed 40 points before the break when first Grace Banks spotted a gap to dive over before similar attack resulted in Molyneux powering through to hit 50 points for the Club. Knowles excellently converted both attempts as Wigan held a 42-0 lead at the break.

Wigan restarted where they left off as two tries in the opening five minutes of the half saw the Warriors hit 60 points. First Davies powered through the middle from halfway to complete her hat-trick before Molyneux stepped inside the defender to score her second with Knowles adding both kicks.

The Warriors’ dominance continued as two tries in quick succession from Coleman, plus a fantastic solo score from Rease Casey, extended the lead to 78-0 after Knowles carried on her perfect record from the tee.

A threatening kick from Huddersfield almost bounced into the hands of their centre to score, however, the ball fell to Welsford who accelerated clear down the right wing to score a special try on her debut as Knowles made it 14/14 from the tee.

Four minutes later Foubister marked her first appearence with a debut try when her perseverance saw her shake off the final tackle to ground. Knowles’ conversion attempt was short but the Warriors led 88-0 on 64 minutes.

The Warriors closed the contest in style as a fine move on the right edge saw Kaitlin Hilton bump off the tackle attempt to score before Isabel Rowe added more points to the board when she crashed over from close range.

Huddersfield were forced to play the final five minutes with 12 after being was shown a yellow card for a high tackle on Hilton, before the Warriors surpassed 100 points when Coleman stormed clear down the wing to dive over. Knowles successfully added the extras to take her points total to 30 on an incredible afternoon.
