Liam Byrne receives suspension ahead of Challenge Cup semi-final showdown

Post by josie andrews »

The Ireland international prop has been hit with a Grade C head contact charge by the match review panel, having been sent for 10 for the first tackle on Matty English at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Most of the bans are a complete joke, but it's the way things are going, prior to the game changing beyond all recognition.
Byrne and his tackling technique is a liability under the current rules.
The farcical thing this week is that Makinson only gets 1 game, served in a Reserves game.
On the up side we will be without Byrne for 2 games, give Harvie Hill a chance, or for the unknown get Walters in for the semi.

Walter’s is a second row not a prop even though Leeds used to play him out of position as prop.

He is now becoming a liability and he is no good to us if he isn't available.
The competition amongst the forwards is high - as it should be - and there plenty of other players who will contribute more than he does.
I squirmed when he was sin binned at Huds. To quote a well know comedian "I don't believe it".

Move Ellis back to prop as Saturday and then use Walters as a sub and move O'Neill to loose forward, again as Saturday.

Can he serve one match vs HKR and the other in the reserves on Sunday?

Hopefully not.
We have far better prop options.
