How good is this team?
It’s always hard to compare different points in time as they required different things
However in super league in the modern era I am starting to think this maybe the best team we have had as a complete package
We don’t have a weak position imo now - obviously Individuals can always be judged like Ellis is no lockers - but as an entire team/coach package

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

It was a great game tonight, French was unbelievable!

I said it at the game tonight the only team that can stop Wigan getting to the grand final is Wigan itself they’re that good

Re: How good is this team?
Best defensive wigan side we have had for years but i feel we have a lot more to come in attack
IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN I WILL BECOME MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE
Re: How good is this team?
Tough game I thought, but after leigh scored we upped a gear and pulled away.Thought Mago had a big impact when he came on ,French did French things and Wardle is a class player, all four tries got me off my seat ,it was a good workout for next week.

Really enjoyable, wonderful skill from Wardle and French. We certainly have the best centre in the comp, and the best (two!) full-backs! And then there's Marshy.

It's as good as I've seen in the summer era. We've managed to build an amazingly good defensive side where almost every player has a serious attacking threat *and* we play as a team. It's up there with the Hanley era sides for me.
However, they've done nothing yet. 8 in a row is the standard ! I don't expect that in the modern game really, but they've got to win more trophies than they lose for multiple years to get on the same page as what's come before them. We shall see.

I think the bit in bold is a bit harsh Mike. Those former teams didn't exist in a salary capped era. I'd say it's almost impossible to achieve what those sides did over nearly a decade! Saints were the dominant team in recent years and came nowhere near those achievements and I doubt this current Wigan side will either. NRL raids (something else that era had no problems with) will see to that.Mike wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 4:41 am It's as good as I've seen in the summer era. To hold all 4 trophies is a remarkable achievement. To win 2 trophies this season already, be 4 points clear at the top and with a good shout at the remaining 2 trophies will do for me!

Agree, off my seat for all 4 tries. Thought that Leigh competed very well, even Lam competed with the referee......but somewhat too much!
