New signing Cade Cust is expected to join Hull FC next week.
Hull FC are looking to strike a deal with Salford Red Devils to sign 2025 recruit Cade Cust with immediate effect. Hull Live understands the Black and Whites are keen to make the move happen, with the 25-year-old, as reported earlier this month, already securing a move to the East Yorkshire outfit for next season.
Cust is the seventh player signed up for 2025, with Hull aiming to bring in the half-back or hooker for the remainder of the current campaign after losing half-back Ben Reynolds to Featherstone Rovers over a week ago. They are also stretched at hooker, with club captain Danny Houghton ruled around for at least six weeks with a calf injury.
The Australian, meanwhile, featured for Salford at Huddersfield Giants on Friday night, but with Salford now confirming Jayden Nikorima on a deal until the end of next year, it's hoped that Cust will be released early, with the player offering Simon Grix's side some depth in two spine positions.
The club are also exploring other possibilities to strengthen their squad before the August 2 transfer deadline, with nine Super League games still to go after Saturday's clash with Wigan Warriors. They have already recruited two new faces to their side this week, with another 2025 recruit, Ed Chamberlain, joining the club on loan.
Chamberlain is expected to see out the current season with Hull, before his three-year deal for 2025 begins. He offers depth to the centre and back row positions, and is no stranger to the halves.
Elsewhere, King Vuniyayawa arrived from Salford on Thursday. It's hoped he can take some respite from Herman Ese'ese and Yusuf Aydin, who have been playing huge minutes in recent weeks, with the Fijian prop also signing on loan for the rest of the season.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Surely FC must be breaching the salary cap, especially with having to pay out fees for players at Leigh & Salford
