Terrible team performance.
Smith cost us that. Far far too many times he was kicking early on in the tackle for no need.
He isn’t young anymore, he’s experienced, there’s no excuse, it isn’t good enough.

Not to sure what to make of that display but Peet is right if we don't start on the front foot we seam to struggle. I can't have a go at them as they have been brilliant so far. Big step up needed against Warrington we will see how much we miss Jai and Beven. Very confident though.

Well, we were terrible and there's no point pretending otherwise but I don't imagine that the season has been completely derailed.
Not many good points but Walters had his most effective game and I hope Nsemba didn't pick up an injury after that scrabble for the line.
The main worry is the forwards. Havard, Thompson and Ellis are all fine and playing really well but Mago looks to have regressed to the bad old days. Hill should be a pick in front of him at the moment. Dupree was an idiot and although there's no way in the world that it was a real tip-tackle, you don't give an indifferent referee the chance to make a decision. It looks as if the coaching staff may have given up on Byrne and I don't really blame them but if he's on the bench and we are playing badly, you might as well use him. I hope Mike Cooper is back next game.
As for the rest, it's all a bit early for Farrimond, which isn't his fault - he'll be an asset in the future but needs a bit of nursing through games at the moment and Eckersley at full-back is like Eckersley at centre - brilliant going forward - suspect in defence.
Hull are playing better than their position suggests although they're not an 80-minute team and we should have undeservedly beaten them if we hadn't continued making wrong decisions.
Warrington can be beaten because Matty Peet can outcoach Sam Burgess although Martin Gleeson (despite his chequered history) might be a useful addition to our staff.

Dreadful team performance for sixty minutes, really poor error strewn displays from each player at different times. That is life, we have had these games before, these players have not become bad players because our last two performances have been crap. However, some individual players form has really dipped recently, which is having an impact on team performances. Keep the faith, we can't be on it all the time.
I must give a big shout out to Liam Byrne, he was the only player who was fault free, due to the fact everyone else was off form in this game it was surprising that he was only used for the last ten minutes. ???
I can accept poor displays from time to time, after all we do get a lot of pleasure from this team generally, these performances don't come along too often, they are only human so s--t happens.
My only beef was the stupid tip tackle by Dupree, bloody hell why?
Warrington next, we had better be a whole lot better, we can't possibly be worse.

Poor performance
That was hulls cup final, but I can expect alot of the lower placed clubs will want a scalp against us considering what we’ve won this season.
Onto next, we’re still 2pts clear with a game in hand, anyone would of taken that at start of season so no need for any panic
What’s update on field? When’s he back

Didn’t think there was anything in it at the game & definitely wasn’t a ‘proper tip tackle’ when I watched it back, just that the Hull player landed awkwardly IMOeaststandspy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2024 1:45 pm Dreadful team performance for sixty minutes, really poor error strewn displays from each player at different times. Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

With the state of the refereeing and disciplinary panel at the moment, any lifting of the legs is a stupid thing to do, this is more inexecusable than a non-deliberate high tackle.josie andrews wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 7:18 amDidn’t think there was anything in it at the game & definitely wasn’t a ‘proper tip tackle’ when I watched it back, just that the Hull player landed awkwardly IMOeaststandspy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2024 1:45 pm Dreadful team performance for sixty minutes, really poor error strewn displays from each player at different times. I wonder if being away from Robin Park for a week had any effect on things? I would hope not.

I can understand where the RFL are going with the high tackles; although I think some of the yellows and reds are too harsh in a lot of situations.
But the O Neil tackle and Dupree one, this is just trying to sanitise and protect the sport too much. Its a contact sport, there will be injuries and you cannot completely eradicate it.
