Thompson: Working hard

LUKE THOMPSON IS LOOKING FORWARD TO FRIDAY NIGHT’S TOP OF THE TABLE CLASH AGAINST WARRINGTON WOLVES AT THE BRICK COMMUNITY STADIUM.

The England international has made an instant impact for the Warriors since returning to the Betfred Super League competition after three seasons in the NRL with Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Thompson started in the Warriors’ victory over Warrington Wolves in the Betfred Challenge Cup Final last month, and reflecting on his time at the Club so far, Thompson said: “It’s been awesome. I’ve really enjoyed the season so far with the teams success but we’ve played pretty consistent as well. I’ve said before but it’s a pleasure coming to work everyday and I think that’s showing on the field.”

On working under Matt Peet, Thompson said: “Matt is a great man manager and he’s got great assistant coaches in Tommy Leuluai and Lockers [Sean O’Loughlin]. Their own careers speak for themselves and they’re doing a great job as assistant coaches as well. We’ve got great staff that do a great job.”

Looking ahead to Friday night’s top of the table clash against Warrington Wolves at The Brick Community Stadium, Thompson said: “You always look forward to the big games and this is one of those. We’re battling for top spot we know the challenges – they’ll be coming here wanting to get one back.

Thompson added: “We’ve worked hard to be where we are so we want to keep that by putting a good performance to get the win.”

The bench should be made up of 2 props, Walters and Leeming IMO. It’s been too prop heavy in recent weeks, with guys like Mago and Byrne having little chance to get any sort of rhythm going. Walters can cover second row or prop so it gives you the perfect balance.

Totally agree NK. We need players off the bench who can run for more than 10 minutes without having to sit down. Matty wasn’t keen to put Byrne on last time and we’ve got enough heavy duty fire power with the starting pack plus two additional props. Walters and Leeming offer more flexibility and a different threat - we need to win this one to put Wire far enough back in the LLS chase. Come on Wigan

I'd agree regarding Walters if I'd seen him put a single good performance in but at the moment he doesn't warrant a bench spot over players who have a little credit in the bank like Mago and Hill

Sadly, maybe, I'd have to agree with that.

I think the reason that walters will get a bench spot is that nsemba isnt 100%

Could we see Kruise relieve Farrimond in the halves for a short spell?

I'm not a fan of using players in unfamiliar positions, but, given that Field and French are out, I think it could be an option.

Its definately an option morley.Especially on the defensive side of things.I do think oneill is much better when hes spelled though.One thing is sure, it gives us more options
