Any forward over the age of 22 can only play 2000 minutes of rugby in a 12 month period the equivalent of 25 full matches. Any forward under the age of 22 is limited to 1600 minutes or 20 full game. Backs over 22 are allowed 2400 minutes under 22 it’s 2000 minutes.

I understand that accepting decisions makes for an easier life but when you read the following in the MRP's minutes it's hard not to get annoyed!

On Mikey Lewis: “Player puts hand in opponent’s face unnecessarily however unclear if player has deliberately placed fingers in opponent’s mouth.”

Firstly, isn't the fact that he "puts hand in opponent's face unnecessarily" enough for a verdict of other contrary behaviour? Secondly, it's quite clear he "does it deliberately" as he makes no attempt to remove them and thirdly he has admitted to trying to "move him around" whilst his hand was in his mouth! How clear cut do they want it?!?

Meanwhile Ellis gets banned for being stood in the wrong place when an opponent bounces off a different tackler!

You couldn't make it up.

Simply accepting anything from an authority because they say so (especially if the authority is blatantly wrong) will not serve the active participants. Resistance helps to balance the situation. and specifically with the refereeing in the sport, which being polite is incompetent.

Exactly👍. Sometimes in life you have to stand up to injustices . It’s not always about what’s easiest.

I think the problem with the refereeing at moment and the high tackle rules / interpretation of the rules, is that there is no common sense applied, it just appears to be black and white, you hit high, your off / banned.
The Video Ref should not be used in the games for anything other than try reviews, and I don't even agree with that, but if they insist on using the Video Ref to review everything, then they must apply common sense, a player coming into a tackle can not just dissapear if something unexpected happens to the player they are tackling.

The only info on the internet is from december 2023. Some interesting points are:

How is it enforced?
Clubs will have access to all of the data to see how many minutes their players have played, and how close any of them may be to their match limits.

The RFL also have that data and insisted on Thursday they would not enforce match limits, with the hopes that the clubs take matters into their own hands and adhere to the regulations.

Are there exemptions?
It appears so. For example, if one forward has already played 25 full game equivalents and is due to play in a Grand Final, they would not be prevented from doing so.

The concept was likened by Jones to one going into an overdraft with their bank; they can play above and beyond their match limits in a season, but then will have to sit out more rugby at the start of the next season until their 12-month rolling period begins again.
