Your right good players but hardly building for future with them.Wiganer Ted wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 3:55 pm HKR have already signed JWH from the Roosters along with Micky Mac and Martin from Leeds.
Some uncompromising players there and Martin will solve their goal kicking problems.

Any more than Kyle Feldt is the future for Saints.

Feldt may not be a signing for the future but he's got another couple of good years in him. Not the fastest but great in the air and a top class finisher. We don't need a player like him at the moment but he'll be a good signing for saints.

I don't know anything about Feldt, but I think the point is that Saints have lost Roby and LMS, Lomax is not getting any youngerl, Walmesley hasn't contributed a great deal, and they don't seem to have tbe depth to cover for injuries. If this is even 75% true, then signing a winger, even if he's a world beater, is not going to solve their problems.southportcdm wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 6:20 pm Feldt may not be a signing for the future but he's got another couple of good years in him. Just as Leeds had their "golden generation" but followed it by floundering year after year, Saints seem to be heading the same way. Only a root and branch sort out could change that - starting with Wellens, who has just been given a 1 year contract extension, I believe.

Good post MPE. Props win pots and Saints are struggling in that position. Walmsley seems to be injured more than he is fit, Paasi looks unfit, Lees and Delaney have no punch they are built like second row forwards. Other than those they are relying on juniors or back row forwards.morley pie eater wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 8:32 pmI don't know anything about Feldt, but I think the point is that Saints have lost Roby and LMS, Lomax is not getting any youngerl, Walmesley hasn't contributed a great deal, and they don't seem to have tbe depth to cover for injuries. Feldt in my view is very much like Makinson but he will cost more, Sailor is faster but not lightening quick and he will not come cheap, they will need to release non-federation players to accommodate them. I assume they will be Hurrell and Matautia which will weaken them elsewhere.
They need British talent like everyone else but the supply is not plentiful. Yes they have some good juniors but they are not ready to step up to SL level. It will be interesting to see if these signings improve them.

JWH will be good for a couple of years over here, but may spend quite a bit of time on the bench given the difference in disciplinary standards over here. Martin is a good signing for them and as Ted says, will solve their goal kicking problems. Micky Mac, i'm assuming Parcell is retiring or moving on then as they dont need 3 1st choice hookers isnt the player he was, but will probably add defensively to their side, but they'll lose out going forwards as Parcell is a fine hooker with lots of abilitykeptinthedarkfans wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 4:03 pmYour right good players but hardly building for future with them.Wiganer Ted wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 3:55 pm HKR have already signed JWH from the Roosters along with Micky Mac and Martin from Leeds.

true, and if you look at us, we are overloaded with them, but its worked well so far. Thompson, Havard and Ellis have big minutes in them (all could do 80 each week), so that has meant with suspensions and injuries, we have been able to turn out a good pack each week, and even if they arent all playing well, we've had options and been able to rotate. If we can get the other guys back and really firing, then there's no reason why we cant win the GF again as we only need to look at the CC semi, when we completely dominated KR, and i dont think any other side could live with that as we can maintain such intensity from minute 1-80 with our prop rotationCharriots Offiah wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 10:40 pmGood post MPE. When Micky Mac plays Catalan look a very different team but he’s missing more games now than plays
