Re: Tonight v Hull KR
The mid field combination wasn't working because of them not playing together for so long.
Plenty mentioned about Field and French but little written that Harry Smith hasn't played for four weeks since the Leeds game 10th August. His own fault ok but it didn't help. French still scored an incredible try.
We have a great pack plus lethal backs and when the halves combine then we'll match and probably beat anyone.
So much said about the sin binnings and Wigan's ill discipline. I've not seen anything written that HKR lost the game due to their ill discipline.
The media have created this narrative that HKR are a very well disciplined outfit. Well they weren't last night and if the media think Wigan won due to the sin binnings then they've to change their narrative as those sin bins were due to HKR's thoroughly poor discipline.
If a team plays 20 mins with 12 men then they've no one to blame but themselves.
After all Peters never suggested that Jack Smith made the wrong decisions, because he didn't!

Thompson is sheer class from day one he oozes world class talent it’s got to the point he’s really so good you expect that level week in week out and what’s more he does heck of a signing.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 10:59 amIt was Mago’s best game for some time but I thought our pack collectively won us that game, their counterparts were dominated. Luke Thompson was outstanding with, and without, the ball. Nsembe, what can you say about this young man. People keep saying he is going to be a superstar, I have news for them he already is. On another evening we win that match comfortably we just didn’t execute like we normally do.
As for Junior all he’s missing now is experience which he’s gathering all the time an exceptional talent but not good enough and only picked for England because he plays for Wigan according to the wages on Facebook they really need to open their eyes and see what we see each week

What constitutes a half back partnership that is "working"? 40-0 in every match? Just 2-3 assists and a try just not good enough against the top of the league eh? What about all the sets we didn't make a clean break. Rubbish that.
Seriously, I've no idea if it's actually possible to meet some people's expectations. We came back from 12 down against the top of the league side. Kicking was good, distribution was good with the exception of the intercept, and our threat level was very high throughout the match.
It's like when people think Thompson wasn't that good because he didn't skittle half a dozen men in one run or something. 45 tackles and 16 hit ups without a 3rd prop interchanging not good enough either for some.
It is my opinion that we played well across the park and with our usual clinical finishing we would have had 3 more tries and been out of sight.

They were all close efforts from tough positions. One hit the post. Hard to get 80% in that game. Credit to KR defence really that we were scoring by out on the flanks.Beryl O'Neill wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 12:35 pm Not seen the match yet on holiday till Monday well played the lads and congratulations to everyone concerned.Just want to know what happened to the goal kicking? usually on target.Otherwise sounds like a brilliant game.![]()

Never mind they haven’t played together recently, don’t think it’s really worked from the get go.Flash wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 12:11 pmYou do realise that was the first time Smith and French had played together in months and the first time with Field since the CC final? How can you say "it's not working"? That just doesn't make sense. It can't be working if it doesn't exist. Was it working earlier in the season when we were sweeping all before us?Barney841 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 8:09 amCharriots Offiah wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 12:17 am
Come on Barney, that’s like saying if we don’t drop the ball and give away penalties then we win easily. Our forwards dominated their pack.![]()
Our pack was immense your right and over the moon for win but our half back combination just isn’t working for me and it’s a worry.
My point being I’m not sure we score them tries playing against 13 men.
French shows magic every now and again but for me he isn’t a half back.
Also what’s happened to O’Neil? It’s probably been mentioned but I’ve missed it.
Re: Tonight v Hull KR
I know right, only two or so pieces of magic a match and reigning man of steel playing 6. Never a half back.Barney841 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 1:35 pmNever mind they haven’t played together recently, don’t think it’s really worked from the get go.Flash wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 12:11 pmYou do realise that was the first time Smith and French had played together in months and the first time with Field since the CC final? Utter garbage. Nothing more to say apart from if you don't know the situation with O'Neil then you clearly aren't a Wigan fan anyway. Which sort of explains it.Barney841 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 1:35 pmNever mind they haven’t played together recently, don’t think it’s really worked from the get go.Flash wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 12:11 pmYou do realise that was the first time Smith and French had played together in months and the first time with Field since the CC final? Come on Mike. You know someone once said he wasn't a half back so that now becomes common wisdom for anyone without a clue to regurgitate ad nauseum.
