Wigan have just beaten the top of the league (even though only on points difference ) out scoring them 5 tries to 3,comming from 0--10 and 8--20 down. The team spirit and commitment to each was outstanding. Right from the kick off you could see loosing was not an option. The atmosphere inside the groud reminded me of Central Park during the mission impossible time. its the most vocal l`ve heard a Wigan crowd for years. We are top of the league, not HKR. If the boot was on the other foot would they care or laugh at Wigans indiscipline at getting 2 sin binnings. As for the ref, at different times, no matter how hard they seem to try there are periods in a game when what appears obvious to the commited suporter is ignored by the ref. Every game has ref talking points,
Every team in the league would like to be where we are. Winners laugh, loosers weep.
Two more performances like that then a week off. Then two more big performances and hopefully we will be home and dry. Bring it on, but then again l`m not getting hammered into the turf every week.

Not seen the match yet on holiday till Monday well played the lads and congratulations to everyone concerned.Just want to know what happened to the goal kicking? usually on target.Otherwise sounds like a brilliant game.

They were all close efforts from tough positions. One hit the post. Hard to get 80% in that game. Credit to KR defence really that we were scoring by out on the flanks.

My point was that his workload has been too high, though the fact that he's still been outstanding is absolutely to his credit.

I'm hopeful, confident even, that we will be playing at Old Trafford next month. I think it would be wise to give Tommo a game off in the next 2 weeks, to help him stay fresh and at 100% for the semi and the final (and yes, I know the whole team get a week off when the play-offs start).

I asked him a few weeks ago about having a week off to recharge his batteries. He looked at me & said "no I’m fine & don’t want or need a week off". He is so calm & quiet you wouldn’t think he was a rugby player

So much said about the sin binnings and Wigan's ill discipline. I've not seen anything written that HKR lost the game due to their ill discipline.
The media have created this narrative that HKR are a very well disciplined outfit. Well they weren't last night and if the media think Wigan won due to the sin binnings then they've to change their narrative as those sin bins were due to HKR's thoroughly poor discipline.
If a team plays 20 mins with 12 men then they've no one to blame but themselves.
After all Peters never suggested that Jack Smith made the wrong decisions, because he didn't!

So what is he complaining about?

The first one was possibly a bit harsh but Burgess flopped on Field after the tackle was complete therefore preventing a quick PTB so by the letter of the laws that’s a penalty for a professional foul which is a sin bin.

The second one was a sun bin any days of the week under this seasons rules. As the ref said, it was head contact (which it was with the shoulder connecting to the chin) and the fact the shoulder bounced up off the chest was mitigation. In other words he got a yellow and not a red.

Peter’s can have no complaints and needs to stop whinging.

And I agree with WP in general about players staying down (not if he's aiming only at Wigan, but the issue in general). It's a VR problem and can be fixed easily with mandatory HIAs and green cards.

If a player received a high tackle that is deemed to have mitigation, are you seriously saying that one team plays minus a player for 3-5 minutes whilst off for a HIA and the offending teams player is off for only 5-7 minutes longer?

How is that going to reduce high or head tackles? How does that "punish" the indiscipline of an offending player's team?

If you removing an injured player for a HIA then we need to bring in 15 minute sin bins for the guilty player (or non-counting substitutions for the HIA)

The answer to this staying down problem is simple mandatory HIA and green card,if fibbing at both half and full time the offender with stroll out to the halfway line in a tutu and made to sing “I’m a little teapot”,with actions job sorted

Great post Josie. Thompson is class on and off the field. He has been immense all season, his attitude is top drawer and his fitness is incredible. I posted earlier this season about how accommodating, approachable and inspirational he was giving his time after the London game at Wimbledon to my lad who has a disability. The way he interacted with him showed a real class human being. It made his year. Has to be our best signing in the pack for years and if ever anyone deserves to get his hands on the big trophy at OT in October, it’s him.
