Penalty Stats
One for the statisticians on this forum. Does anybody have the penalty count numbers (for and against Wigan) by match this season and the referee involved. Thanks in anticipation.
Re: Penalty Stats
Id guess it's very close to 50-50 percentage-wise with all refs. To get anything much different you have to have a total Toronto-style team-wide meltdown.
Re: Penalty Stats
All I know is Wigan need to stop with the penalties it’s killing them time and again

Re: Penalty Stats
The table at the bottom shows team stats including penalties. We are the most penalised team this year.

Re: Penalty Stats
Thanks, interesting those stats.
We conceded most penalties but have least errors and made fewest tackles.

Supprising that the top 3 are so divided on that table. We're worst on penalties and HKR and Wire are the two best. Wire have only 67% of our pens, so they give away 2 to our 3. I guess we're offsetting that with better ball control, but if HKR or Wire match our completion rate then they are going to have 3 penalty-based attacking opportunies to out 2 on average. A big disadvantage.

Re: Penalty Stats
So basically , we are the most penalised team whilst our top three competitors sit as the two lowest penalised teams, go figure . Not that I believe either are squeaky clean but imagine how well we'd be doing if we didnt give easy points and possession away.

The positive side to this is that it's an area we can improve for the end of the season. Not certain if it's something that the players are being asked to do (e.g. to delay the play the ball) that the refs don't like or the fact that our coaching staff are not giving the players enough stick for being careless etc.

Re: Penalty Stats
Does a club's "reputation" have an influence on refs when they prepare before a game?
Last weeks binning of Leeming was a disgrace.
He was penalised Kendal said because of the not late but high tackle on the Catalans player when kicking the ball. Visual evidence proved that it was not a high tackle so what on earth did the VR (Grant) say to Kendall? Might have been different if Kendal had a screen to look at like in soccer. Although it might not.
