Wigan Warriors young gun Tom Forber started the season on loan in the Championship: and finished it as a Super League Grand Final winner.
The 21-year-old became a Super League champion on Saturday night as he came on from the bench to help Wigan beat Hull KR 9-2 in the Grand Final in what was just his 11th first-team appearance for the Warriors.

From the Championship to Super League champion: The rise of Wigan Warriors’ Tom Forber
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I like Forber.
If a player turns to offload, Tom is there. his tackling improves every week.
The reserve players have had a real influence on the season too.
We were losing 12-6 at Catalans then Tom scored a minute before half time. When we went in 12-12 everyone knew Wigan would win and we did. Tom's try was pivotal in that win.
At home v Saints, we were 6-0 up and it was tense. Jack Farrimond came up with the short kick through and scored near the posts. That put us two scores ahead and we knew then Wigan would win.
Zac Eckersey's try in the Cup Final was so important. Being quick enough to be on the end of the kick was massive.
The other "reserve", Junior has set the SL alive with his displays. Fully deserved Young Player of the Year award!
The quality of the reserve lads who've come though this year has been incredible. Credit to the lads themselves and also the club for providing the pathway from scholarship to First Team.
