All it does is deny a fabulous professional the chance to play another game for his country and denies the fans the chance to watch him play.

I agree with other posters regarding Hiku & Burgess. The latter clearly makes contact with Junior’s head whilst he is flat on the ground and already dazed from the fall. Compare that contact to Thompson and we can all see why no-one has any faith in the panel.
Richard Silverwood has commented on the Hiku challenge but no one has about Thompson’s ‘nudge’ that I can find.

Except George Williams commenting on the disallowed Marshall try which went against Thompson being within ten metres even though he was nowhere near to be able to interfere with play!

Plus that rule is about being within 10 metres of players ready to receive the ball. The ball bounced, no-one tried to receive it, so surely not offisde?

I'm guessing that Hiku was charged for what he did after the tackle, ie he lifted Junior's arm as he lay injured. Thats something the panel take a very dim view of. In this case, Hiku did it from concern but its still dangerous and provoked a strong reaction from Marshall,

I don’t think we even got a penalty for the Hiku incident. Doesn’t look good on the officials. And if we had Hiku or Burgess would have been sin binned., which could have resulted in more points for us.

I thought Junior's game was over the way that he went down. Mike commented on it earlier, players that are knocked out have this way of falling like a sack of spuds and Junior seemed to do just that. I suppose we have to trust the medics if they passed him fit to play on. The 'game' does seem to be trying to protect the players more which is essential if rugby league is to continue. I just hope that the checks they do for HIA during the match are effective. When Junior was interviewed after the game he seemed happy and absolutely fine so I hope there was no damage done. As for Hiku, I thought that he showed concern for Jumior's condition and didn't really do anything wrong.

Former Super League referee blasts ban for Hull KR star Peta Hiku

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

It was Burgess who should be banned it was him who hit Junior I. wAs surprised he wasn't sent of for contact with his head never as I remember was he that type of person when he played for Wigan 😡💯

I think if Peta Hiku gets a 4/5 games ban it would be harsh, BUT, it would make up somewhat for the ban he didn't get but should have got when he attacked the head of jai field earlier in the season. What goes around and all that.

That's certainly not what it looked like! I've seen people get knocked out and there's a certain way of "not moving" that they adopt - i.e. its not a conscious lack of motion, its a lack of input to their muscles - a "sack of potatoes"!

I suppose HKR can now use that statement to get out of the 3-5 week ban range, as Junior was intentionally staying down and not unconscious, and I guess how would the defenders know Junior thought he might be injured in that scenario.

Anyway, what I thought I saw was a player clearly unconscious from the moment he hit the deck the first time, bouncing into a prone position, being hit hard with no physical reaction whatsoever, and a few seconds later some indications that he regained consciousness. You could tell he was out before the defence took their second shot by the way he fell after hitting the floor for the first time IMO, and the total lack of any reaction at all to being hit again.
Looked like he was sparked out to me as well but who am I to question the medics.
Didn't appear "sparked out" to me though!

I just didn't see the usual effects you see players have when taken a knock to the head.

To argue the point effectively brings the medical staff of Wigan Warriors into disrepute and could be regarded as slanderous at best, libellous at worst so please do continue on with your medical expertise........
My point was not to question the integrity of our medical team but to point out that they know the situation Junior was in better than us having treated him. We can only say what we see from the stands. Having watched the replay, Junior is able to move his leg pretty much straight away but stayed down, presumably wanting to be checked over as was stated on my post wrt Peet's comments on GMR.

I’m pretty sure that Mattie wouldn’t let anyone go back on if there was any doubt. He looks after his players and I’d go so far as to say If there was a choice of winning the game or risking one of his players health he would choose the players health over winning every time
