Hull FC are looking to make further squad changes this pre-season.

Hull FC are looking to move three players on before the start of the new season. Hull Live understands that Jack Walker, Liam Tindall, and Morgan Smith have all been told to find new clubs, with Kye Armstrong also confirming his exit this Sunday after settling on an agreement with the club.

All three players are contracted at the Black and Whites for the 2025 season, and while they will train at the club as professionals and have access to facilities and physios like every other player, they won’t be part of the first-team squad.

Hull Live understands that they are still employed as professional players, but they won’t count on the salary cap, allowing Hull to look at further recruitment with a middle desired, but the club are hoping to come to a resolution in the near future with the players moving on to new clubs.

The club have been in contact with the players’ representatives over the last few months looking to do just that, with Craig Harrison, the agent of Walker and Tindall, declaring on the House of League podcast that he didn’t think his clients would be at Hull next season.

That is still understood to be the case, with Hull making their stance to the players and their representatives clear. They have signed Jordan Rapana to play full-back, with Logan Moy his understudy. They are also confident that Zak Hardaker and Davy Litten can fill in when required.

As for the wings, they have Tom Briscoe, Lewis Martin, and Harvey Barron, with Jordan Abdull and Aidan Sezer signed to play in the halves and Cade Cust to cover the half-back and hooker positions.

Beginning pre-season training on Tuesday morning, Hull will run with a squad of 30 players, plus their new young talent group, who will be challenged to earn their place in the first-team squad.

Hull are cautious not to just hand out numbers, instead challenging their young players to step up and earn them. John Cartwright is understood to be fully behind that process, with Richie Myler still looking to strengthen the side this winter.

Once again, a middle forward is preferred, with a bit of salary cap space available to bring in the right man. Hull have signed nine new players for 2025. They have also released 20 across the 2024 calendar year, with Myler undergoing the required changes as the club looks to build themselves back up as a competitive outfit once again.

How the F*** does this work? You are contracted to us for next year, but we dont want to play you, so look elsewhere (i get that bit to an extent), however, if they dont find another club, then surely they must count on the Hull FC salary cap as they are paid professionals with a contract to Hull for 2025 season

I thought the same thing! Makes you wonder how it will work if they are still being paid by the club
