England star Herbie Farnworth has been nominated for this year’s International Rugby League Golden Boot award after his standout performances in the Test series against Samoa.
A long list of contenders for the 2024 Golden Boot, chosen by members of the international media, was announced last week, including Harry Smith and George Williams.
However Dolphins centre and former Wigan St Patricks youngster Farnworth is the only English player to be named in the final shortlist of six international stars.
The 24-year-old could become the first England player to win the award since Tommy Makinson in 2018.
Harry Grant, Tom Trbojevic and Isaah Yeo are in line to become the first Kangaroos player to win the Golden Boot since 2017 after being named on a shortlist.
Tonga captain Addin Fonua-Blake and New Zealand full-back Keano Kini have also been included, with the winner set to be announced in early December, chosen by Golden Cap recipients Darren Lockyer (Australia), James Graham (England) and Petero Civoniceva (Australia/Fiji).
IRL Chair Troy Grant said: “The international game is in strong shape again and excitement is already building for next year, with the first Ashes series since 2003 between Australia and England, while New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga will play in the Pacific Cup.
“On behalf of International Rugby League, I would like to congratulate all of the players who showed such pride and passion representing their nations and particularly those who have been nominated for the 2024 IRL Golden Boot.
“It is an outstanding field of candidates, and any would be a worthy winner.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
