Rugby League Challenge Cup first and second round draws as clubs learn fate

The journey to Wembley starts now!

The first and second round draws for the 2025 Challenge Cup will be made this Monday evening, with the draws expected from 6:30 pm. In the meantime, we'll be building up to them right here, with the competition taking on a new format this season.

In total, there will be seven rounds, with selected community clubs kicking things off, before Championship and League clubs enter in round two. Super League clubs then enter in round three, joining 20 winners of the round two ties. All topflight clubs will be drawn away against a lower league side.

As for the Challenge Cup, the current holders are Wigan Warriors, who defeated Warrington Wolves in this year's final. In 2023, Leigh Leopards won the trophy, edging past Hull KR in golden point. Meanwhile, Hull FC last won the trophy in 2017, the year after they finally broke their Wembley hoodoo.
