But then again he didn't even get the Super League Coach of the Year, WTF
I did give Matt Peet a Trophy “Coach of The Year 2024" which he likes very much 😂
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Nice touch, Josie.

Just reading BBC write up: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-leagu ... gpe4gy3pyo

"Since 2022, Wigan have won seven major trophies under Peet - despite the coach taking charge of fewer than 100 games."

Assuming 100, thats one trophy every 14.29 games

i was having a debate last night with someone on facebook

he was saying that marshall should have been nominated for SPOTY

i get we all have our opinions and all that, but there is no way on gods earth that any Wigan player was going to be nominated for the individual award

he was stating that he was top try scorer and thus justified his inclusion and also that he didnt know who the swimmer way in the nominations, so and not just myself were justifying why he wouldnt be included

1. Jude Bellingham - professional footballer at Madrid. european champion and played for england in the euros this summer
2. Joe Root - highest England run scorer of all time
3. Alex Yee - multiple silver and gold medals at triathlon at the Olympics
4. Sarah Storey - multiple gold medals at cycling at the Paraolympics
5. Luke LIttler - darts
6. Keely Hodgkinson - 800m Olympic champion

so, in my argument football is the biggest game globally, Olympics watched by millions globally (but no-one knows who the swimmer is??) and Luke Littler is more well known than any RL player off the back of 1 tournament 12 months ago

the most well known RL player on the stage on Tuesday night was Offiah, and he hasnt played for 20+ years

so the failing is on the RFL / SL in not allowing any player to become a household name. There is no way that any Wigan player would be known by half of the watchers of the SPOTY, and other than Wigan fans and perhaps some other RL fans, they genuinely wouldnt get any votes

i would love nothing more than a RL player to get nominated, but that aint going to happen anytime soon unless the RFL allows players to get external sponsorship / utilise social media to their benefit & advertise, and also getting TV deals so that the game we all love is on TV and the players become household names

Of course it shouldn't have been Marshall.

It should, however, have been Joe Root.

And the fact that nobody outside of RL would know who they were and the BBC like to scan through the crowd to focus on famous people, probably didn't want 20ish seats taken by people who for the most watching would not know who they were
