Off-contract skipper Liam Farrell makes surprise admission on Wigan Warriors future

Wigan Warriors captain Liam Farrell admits he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a move away from his boyhood club having entered the final year of his contract, though insists that would be his last resort.

Now 34, hometown hero Farrell has spent his entire career at Wigan – barring six games on loan at Widnes Vikings in 2010 prior to his senior Warriors debut that same year.

I think you may be spot on there, from what I remember Faz has done a degree in sport science or something like that so I think a role in the conditioning side of things may be on the cards for him, especially with the club investing more in the Women's game and facilities, extra hands may be needed on the conditioning side.

possibly, but i think that it may be a deal that works for the club ie 1 year on reduced terms from his last contract. i wouldnt expect Isa to be much more than a backup squad player for this season, and for that he's worth having around IMO. I've a feeling we looked but were unable to sign anyone within the cap, hence the late offer to Isa, as i'm sure we'd told him he wasnt being offered a contract

what we need is Walters to replicate what Junior did, and push Faz with a view to taking his shirt

Totally agree about Walters, I thought he was going to be our best signing last year, but he hasn't lived up to my expectations.
He needs take note of how aggressive and strong Nsemba has been and try to get to the same standard, cause defences major problems.

I thought he hadn't really understood what being a Wigan player meant yet. He made too many mistakes that looked like lack of concentration to me. He wasn't quite in the attention to detail and focus zone IMO, he seemed still in the (acceptable at Leeds) rely on natural ability and see what happens mindset.

Surely Walters' problems came from not playing every week. Following his collar bone injury and not being unable to replace Isa when he became injured put him behind the flow of the season.
Nsemba took Walters' place and after a slow start really picked his game up, again, through playing every week. Once Nsemba moved to the left side and his form took off Walters was always going to be in the stand by number.

Long term a back row of Walters, Nsemba and Ellis could be staggeringly good.
