Two more years
Liam Farrell. new 2 years
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Liam Farrell signs new two-year deal
* Liam Farrell has signed an extended contract with the Club.
* Farrell: “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to play at this great Club for two more years.”
* New deal will cover the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Wigan Warriors are pleased to announce that captain Liam Farrell has signed a two-year extension with the Club.
The new contract will see him remaining with Warriors until the end of the 2027 season
Aside from six games on loan at Widnes at the beginning of his journey, the former St. Pats junior has played all of his professional rugby league for Wigan, a total of 380 games in all competitions, scoring 143 tries.
The 34 year-old has an impressive CV of honours including two World Club Challenges, five League Leaders’ Shield, six Grand Finals and four Challenge Cups. He was also the Harry Sunderland winner in 2016 and has six Dream Team appearances between 2015 and 2023.
Liam Farrell said: “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to play at this great Club for two more years.
“I feel more privileged now than I did when I was making my debut as a 19-year old because of the success I have had throughout my career and hopefully this will continue.”
Head Coach Matt Peet added: “Liam Farrell’s contract extension is fantastic news for Wigan Warriors. He carries all the qualities a team needs from a captain — loyalty, hard work, and leadership.
Liam’s commitment is a huge boost for us all at Wigan Warriors, and I’m excited to see him drive us forward in the years to come.”

Re: Two more years
I have said previously that Faz is nowhere near the level he was a few weeks ago but, he is still one of the fittest players and an integral part of the club. Many may not know this but Faz trains for an hour, normally on his own, before the rest of the team report for duty. He sets the standards that others follow, that’s one of the reasons we have a champion team.

Something that has just occurred to me, and which wasn’t made clear last evening, is Faz’s new deal a two year extension or does the two year deal include 2025. A job for Agent Josie

Re: Two more years
I guess we have to defer to the coaching teams position here.
From the outside looking in, there has been a definite drop off from him over the last couple of years.
That said, this is from a very lofty position.
Time will tell.
On the other hand he is a nice lad with plenty of experience to offer, and a very good professional.

No issue with 2 years from me, a good period of time to make sure he can hand over the starting 2nd row spot to the next man, without any drop in intensity or commitment
