BBC defines success for Wire . . . Hilarious!

Post by morley pie eater »

I couldn't help laughing on reading this from the BBC about George Williams being appointed captain of the Wire:

. . . last season was a huge step forward for Williams and his side after two years of underachievement. The Wolves finished third in the regular season, only four points behind quadruple winners Wigan Warriors in the final table, and they beat all but one of the other Super League sides.

They lost 10-8 to Hull KR in an epic play-off semi-final and they made a first trip to Wembley in five years in the cup where they lost to the Warriors.
I wonder what failure looks like?

Failure looks like the embarrassing interview on Sky by Jenna Brooks with the Burgess (or Chuckleless are they will now be known) brothers.
Perhaps George will be recruited to supervise fitness at Warrington and Huddersfield.

Too obvious to interview the coach or players who hold all the trophies.

I do wonder whether Williams himself feels he made the right move here’s Wigan winning for fun and then there’s the basket case that is Warrington,I said when big Sam arrived he would benefit from the work Powell did in getting rid of a lot of good players who’d simply become far to comfy at Warrington and to a degree I think I was right it forced Warrington into finally backing their youth something coaches they’d brought in simply didn’t want to do add to that bonkers vanity signings such as Inglis made hard work for themselves.

Now will they go well this year er I think it’ll be another year of progress for them a cup final maybe but I don’t think they’ll be picking a trophy up in October
