I may be wrong but I don’t think Hull will be pushovers of the last few years they looked good against a poor Catalan side but we shall seeFirestarter wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 10:20 am Just looking at their squad i would think we can stick at least 40 points on them if we play anything like we can

This is something that I was hoping for last season and I think makes even more sense this year. I get that Walters really wanted to play in the back row, but he's proven that he's a very good prop forward while at Leeds. That's the position where he really made a name for himself. If he plays for us like he did for Leeds at prop then he'd have plenty to offer.buttmonkey2 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 5:31 pm Walters played prop for Leeds (not exactly the highest recommendation) but he can give options. Picking 3 props and a hooker tells you that the tactic is "down the middle" - which I wouldn't mind if it was effective
If Matt Peet never selects him at prop and keeps using him as a 3rd choice back row (essentially mostly 18th man) then we're not making the most of a talented player. It could potentially end up with him getting frustrated and moving to a club willing to play him every game and they might just stick him at prop and see the benefits.
Maybe coaches just see positions as being really specialised these days and don't like the idea of having a player move between the middle and the edges, but having someone who can cover prop and back row on the bench just seems like an obvious advantage.

He just looks like a backrower to me. Tall and not as sticky as most props. Seems ideal for running a bit wider out. I think you earn your spot in training with peet. Perhaps he's got the Leeds attitude that talent trumps work. Not at Wigan it doesn't, you need both.

A fast start is required, not a repeat of last season.

I'd agree, and i think he was unlucky to miss out on a GF spot last year as he'd played really well back end of the season, and something like what we were expectingMike wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 10:40 pm He just looks like a backrower to me. i've posted previously that this is his season to stake his claim for the 2nd row spot. I know Faz has been given a contract extension, but Walters need to make that position his own, and Faz almost redundant / bench spot if he's going to succeed or its highly possible someone else will come through the ranks and he'll miss out

I dont really care whether they play him through the middle or out wide. Either way he offers miles more than Harvey Hill.the pieman wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 9:29 amI'd agree, and i think he was unlucky to miss out on a GF spot last year as he'd played really well back end of the season, and something like what we were expectingMike wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 10:40 pm He just looks like a backrower to me. TV coverage:
Have I got this right? This Sky Sports Plus malarkey isn't an actual TV channel, therefore, you won't be able to watch the game down the pub. That's correct, isn't it? If so, might as well stay in and listen to Joe and Bilko.

It's available via the red button on Sky TV. Whether a pub uses that I've no idea, but you can watch it on TV and not need a computer etc. I'm just hoping I can get it on catch up or Wigan TV when I get back from Hull.

I asked about it in the pub last night. Landlady didn't know. "Oh, but the Sky bloke is coming tomorrow, he'll sort it out". Maybe, but I think it's unlikely. The brief two-minute highlights on Wigan TV generally come online a bit after midnight, if I remember rightly.
