Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

It's in large part the uselessness of the RFL that convinces me that SL is right to seek closer ties with the NRL. At least they have some positivity for the future. As for fears that 'they'll poach all our players', they can do that now, if they want. I don't see a big difference.

I can't remember if it was one one of the Vegas shows (NRL 360 Matty Johns etc.) or if it was on a podcast from Vegas, but there was one of the Aussie on there and they were talking about Superleague and growing the game in the Northern Hemisphere, and he said that if the RFL came asking then they would get involved and potentially come over here, I think they were talking about for 6 months or something like that, to assess the game and help raise the game, but the NRL would probably not approach the RFL.

Now I don't know if anyone from the RFL saw it as well but no doubt it will easily get back to them, if they are not already on the phone to the NRL then they are incompetent beyond belief.

I know there has already been discussions about Superleague going back to Vegas next year, I think the NRL will definitely want us there as it has gone to another level this year by all accounts, but we need to get the NRL involved in guiding the RFL as to the best way forward to raise the game.

i listened to something similar, cant remember what or where it was though, but it was about the guy the NRL have brought in to grow their brand (think it was Peter V'Landys) and how he would be open to coming to the UK to help grow RL over here

i think he's grown horse racing over in Oz too but also an influential character as he's had dinner with the Queen and one of the US presidents (think Biden or Obama), so a big hitter in terms of who he has met with previously

It was something like that and from what I remember was said, is that they would not offer to come over but would be open if asked, so the RFL need to swallow any pride and reach out to them.

I think Brian Carney and Matty Johns were talking about it in on Sky in the lead up to our game.

I don't see much negative about it to be fair. We could essentially turn into another feeder league for them, but to a degree we're that already if they want... Might lead to more ties like Cas have set up with Manley. You never know, it might even grow appreciation for SL down under....

It's that kind of promotion we want from the Vegas trip, many of us who also watch NRL will have a favourite team they support in the NRL and even buy merchandise, that is the kind of thing we want to try and get over there as well, Aussie fans who say my second favourite team is xxx from Superleague, building the brand over here, over there.

Hopefully if we keep building on our presence in Vegas then we may even get US fans wanting to buy merchandise of UK based clubs, you will often see Basketball, NFL and even baseball merchandise sold over here, we need to aim for similar over there

My thoughts exactly when I saw this on Fcebook.

For those who do not know it was Wood who went running to Sky asking for a new TV deal early with some of the money due on commencement of the new deal because Bradford were in danger of going bust. The result was a much lower TV sponsorship deal and a deal that was not put out to tender when the sport was arguably more marketable than it had been for a long time with stars like Sam Tomkins well known nationally. This he did without consulting the SL chairmen and Ian Lenegan was absolutely furious. So Wood screwed over the entire sport with his shit deal to save Bradford.

Given his history why on earth Beumont thinks Wood should be anywhere near the running of the sport is beyond me.

I don’t know details but I am also pretty sure Wood is not very welcome in Halifax due to his time running them.
I’m baffled frankly why Beaumont thinks he has the power to force this change through Wood was bad for the game back then and his time in the club game hasn’t really pulled up the trees to be the “terminator “ when the tv deal comes around

The RL media is all over Twitter saying that the RFL paid Salford's players in order for the match to go ahead against Castleford.

The press have asked for a response but nothing more than "no comment" issued. No denials either though!!

Yeah seen it 🤨
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
