We are not even operating at the cap this season.Ipinwigan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 5:58 pm"Could be a cap issue", we need to sort things out, w**ky Warrington don't seem to have issues with a salary cap, just keep signing players like Sneyd, who will be on big moneydoc wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 5:42 pm Could be a cap issue i.e. he thinks he's worth more money than the club can afford to pay him under the SC. Walters offers cover in the second row as well as prop so is useful to have on the bench.. Hill is an out and out prop.
Kerr reminds me of a young Phil Clarke and I see him as LF 3 or 4 years down the line.
Maybe we are clearing the way for Sutton to return?![]()

We have done.Mike wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 8:58 pmYeah, would we risk a marquee spot on a player who's going to be out around 50% of the time?Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 8:57 pmIf Field wants to stay then I don’t think money would have been a problem. I think he will be a marquee player and therefore any pay increase will not affect the salary cap. There is a two year option attached to his contract, I would like to know who that is in favour of. I think a bigger concern about Jai is his recurring injury problems.

Got no problem with this, it’s part and parcel of a salary capped sport and the same for all clubs.
Won’t comment on the details as we don’t know whether:
1 - Wigan offered him a deal that was better than Hulls
2 - Wigan offered him a deal that was less than hulls
3 - Wigan didn’t offer him a deal
It also isn’t always about money. Whilst it most likely is, he will also consider playing time.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Personally i dont see the point in keeping players that are leaving and have already signed for another team.To me this is keeping another player from progressing.Obviously this doesnt apply to world beaters for obvious reasons. Its a shame and i would rather keep him than Byrne( depending on the wire rumours)thegimble wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 8:48 amHe's asking will he be gone before this season ends

I would look to bring Chris Hill until the end of the season, he's still playing big minutes and would add good cover.

Blimey! Chris Hill? I trust you jest sir.
As for Harvie Hill, he hasn't seemed to train on as we hoped and he looks not to have that touch of speed that modern props need. I'd still have liked to see him in the squad but now we can look around for an improvement to the squad.
