Eckersley will have to play centre (his best position) which means Bevan to fullback so long as Farrimond is fit. Unless we make an emergency signing (e.g. Brierley or a centre) we're going to struggle until Jai returns. Such a shame for Adam who was playing really well this season. I suppose the one upside could be that Eckersley gets a prolonged stint at centre which will be informative if Adam decides to return to the NRL next season.
Making him play the rest of the match last week doesn't seem sensible at this point.

Mike your being kind it was bloody stupid to leave him on no getting away from that,Peet rarely gets it wrong but that well player welfare etc and all that should have come into play at the very least

A complete lack of duty of care towards Keighran from all and sundry. I’m sure he was happy to stay on and tough it out and I’m sure the coaching staff were happy on that basis but then we need the medical staff to step in.

Don't forget the medical staff and coaches ask the players themselves how they are feeling and if they feel they can carry on, no one other than the player at that point knows how bad the injury is, if they could scan it and get instant results then great, don't let him return to the field, but if the player says 'it's not too bad and I am okay, then sometimes they have to take the players word for it as well, had it turned out to be a bit of bruising and he needed a week off, then some would be saying it would have been crazy to take him off.

I accept players don’t want to come off but when he’s on one leg, swapping with Eckersley to be on the wing and then has as much lateral movement as a peak Paul Wellens then we are relying on the medical team to step in much like you’d expect a cornerman in boxing. no one comes out of this well unfortunately.

There’s also the possibility they knew what the issue was, and that leaving him on may have no impact on recovery time. I don’t think it was a good decision, just applying my diagnostic training.

You could tell from the stands how bad it was. He was running down the wing supporting a break and bascially told the man with the ball to ignore him because he couldn't keep up!

Don't get me wrong I would have taken him off, if we had a viable replacement for him and Jai, but it is all in hindsight and yes he couldn't sprint at full pace, but neither could Faz who went into the centres and I doubt any other forward potentially put out wide would either

It shouldn’t just be a matter of how the player is feeling, it’s what he can contribute.

Be interesting to see what happens with selection. I don't know what I'd do! I'd like a centre at centre though.
