We were unsure about giving sam tomkins a go, a few years ago.When we did he changed our season as i remember. I think the other kid was young ainscough on the wing .Lets give hodkinson a chance as he looks class

Young Shaun Ainscough He came to the game last week & I didn’t realise it was him at first, obviously he’s a bit older & has filled out from the scrawny lad I knew & watched.

He came up to me in my seat, he said "I saw you & couldn’t go past without stopping & saying hello". He had one of his young lads with him, think he has five children now.

Anyway he usually sits in the West stand but was sitting in the East stand because his lads teammates were in that stand.

"He said to his lad " Say hello to Josie, she watched me when I played in the academy, U20’s & then first team for Wigan & followed us home & away, she’s a special lady".

I said I was a lot younger & fitter then but thank you for remembering me Which I thought was nice a lot of our ex players still remember me which is nice.

There’s not really as much interaction with our young lads now. Some know you but a lot of others aren’t so sure. Different generations I suppose now.

Yes he did play well think he went up Cumbria way but I’ve a memory like a sieve he did play up there don’t know if he went via somewhere else more local. But it’s nice that the ex players remember you.

I’m very good friends with Kevin Brown. Last year at a CC game we had at home he was at north/east corner with the BBC doing whatever they were ready to do. I had to walk past him, he’s actually done same for Sky (as has Jon Wilkin who I’m friends with, don’t ask me how) & he’s come away from Tanya Arnold just to say ‘hello’ & given me a kiss while she’s shouting "Kev"

I go to the Whistling Wren in Leigh, not just on match days but during the day sometimes. One time when we went for lunch the Leigh team came in for theirs & several ex Wigan players all came over to say hello & for a chat Stephen just sits there it’s nice

I think our pack hasn't reached the same performance levels they were at for most of last year. Obviously we're missing Havard who was strong last season. Thompson has been noticeably less effective overall without playing badly. Dupree, Byrne and Mago have all been pretty poor, so we've gone from having a fearsome pack that was the backbone of our success built on long minutes from Thompson, Havard and Ellis
on top form to a pack that's capable of being outplayed on a regular basis. Nsemba was also influential last year but aside from the Warrington game he's been less effective this year too.

Ellis and Mago have been shocking the last couple of weeks, they don’t want to do the hard yards. Our substitutions, or lack of them is a puzzle, I can only assume MP was confident that we could close the game out.
