Huddersfield Giants star banned as nine Super League players land disciplinary charges

The latest round of disciplinary charges are in.

Huddersfield Giants' miserable start to the season has taken another blow after Olly Wilson was banned. Wilson, the Giants' star performer during their winless start to the season, has received a two-match suspension following a Grade D charge imposed after their defeat to Salford Red Devils on Thursday.

Wilson has received 15 disciplinary points as a result of a tackle on Salford's Harvey Wilson, who failed a head injury assessment following the collision. Wilson has subsequently received three additional points as per the rulings, which state further points will be given when an incident results in an injury that forces a player from the field.

He will now miss upcoming games against Hull KR and Catalans Dragons. The Giants have lost their first five games of the Super League season and were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Wakefield Trinity.

Wilson is the only player banned this week, though eight further players were charged for differing offences and have all received disciplinary points.

Salford Red Devils, Hull FC and Wigan Warriors all had two players charged each. Alrix Da Costa, the Catalans Dragons hooker, was also charged, as well as Castleford Tigers' Judah Rimbu.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

This disciplinary thing is going worse!

Liam Marshall, - Dangerous contact!

Luke Thompson, - Late hit on passer!

Are they for fecking real?

Did they expect Thompson to just disappear? There was no malicious intent in that tackle.
