* Matt Peet has previewed Sunday’s Betfred Super League game against Salford Red Devils, in association with Greenmount Projects.

* Peet: “Salford will come to compete and we have to prepare to play improved rugby.”

* Tickets are available to purchase online HERE.

MATT PEET HAS PREVIEWED SUNDAY’S BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE HOME CLASH AGAINST SALFORD RED DEVILS, IN ASSOCIATION WITH GREENMOUNT PROJECTS.

England confirmed on Wednesday morning that an Ashes Series against Australia will take place across consecutive Saturday’s this autumn at Wembley Stadium, Everton Stadium and AMT Headingley Stadium.

Sharing his excitement on the announcement, Peet said: “It’s positive news for any rugby league fan whether it’s in England or Australia. I’ll be looking forward to seeing two teams go at it at the end of the year, and every rugby league fan in this country will be looking to attend at least one of those games. The important thing now is we get the crowds fit enough for the two teams and the arenas.”

On growing the international game, Peet said: “For the game to get where it deserves to be, the international scene has to be thriving and flourishing. It needs to be that every player is aspiring to represent their country and for that to happen we need consistent games and a regular competition structure. This is a step in the right direction and hopefully the quality of the games, the fan experience and the product on tv will leave everyone wanting more.”

Speaking on improvements from the Leeds Rhinos defeat, Peet said: “Regardless of the result we’d want to improve and from Leeds there are some clear areas to build on. Mainly fundamentals of the game, nothing too complicated. We thought our defence could have been better in some areas of the first half, and with the ball a little bit more patient and composed.”

On Salford Red Devils, Peet said: “I feel for everyone associated with the club as the uncertainty must be horrible. The game is a separate thing. Salford will come to compete and we have to prepare to play improved rugby. Aside from that, everyone wants to see Salford come out at the other side of it.”

Providing an update on Brad O’Neill, Abbas Miski and Jai Field, Peet said: “[Brad] will this week. He’s just trained, he’s buzzing, and his enthusiasm is one of the things we love about him. There’s been a bit of having to hold him back during his recovery, but you’d rather have that than the other way. It’ll be a case of building his minutes up.”

“Abbas won’t play, we’ll know more next week. We thought giving him a couple of weeks could benefit him. On Jai we’ll see how he pulls through in training.”

Tickets for Sunday’s Betfred Super League clash against Salford Red Devils remain available to purchase from The Brick Community Stadium Ticket Office and online HERE.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Wonder if it will be called off?

If it is and Salford forfeit the game, I guess we get awarded the points but does anyone know what score is given?

It used to be 24-0 I think, but that may have just been at amateur level

That’s a much better squad than they had available for the Saints game.
