The Rugby Football League have handed out a number of charges and fines, including to Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors’ coach Matt Peet.
A total of £12,000 has been handed out in fines, although the four fines all see 50% suspended until the end of the 2026 season, whilst Wigan’s Matt Peet has also been hit with a suspended two-match touchline ban.
The RFL have dished out the sanctions, which were quietly announced on the governing body’s website under a notice of ‘Agreed Decisions
Three of the four decisions related to incidents that occurred in March with the fourth relating to Joe Shorrocks and comments that he made on social media after his ban, handed down after Salford’s Round Two loss to Leeds Rhinos.
Shorrocks is fined the lowest amount of the four charges, being hit with a £1,000 fine, half of which is suspended, after breaching the sport’s Operational Rules and Respect Policy with his social media post following the news of his ban.

Two of the other three fines relate to Leeds Rhinos with the club itself fined for one charge whilst their Sporting Director Ian Blease is charged on a different count.
Blease’s charge relates to a breach in the operational rules relating to conducts towards match officials. The Leeds man admitted the charge after breaching rules when engaging the referees in the tunnel at half time of the Rhinos win over Wigan Warriors on March 22nd,
A £3,000 fine, half of which is suspended, and a two-match touchline ban, also suspended until the end of 2026, have been accepted with the ex-Salford man also issuing an apology.
The other charge relating to the Rhinos goes to the club themselves for fielding 14 players in the second-half of their win over Castleford Tigers on March 2nd. For that, Leeds are fined £5,000, half of which is suspended.
As for Wigan Warriors’ Matt Peet, he has accepted a £3,000 fine (half suspended), and a two-match touchline ban (also suspended until the end of 2026) to entering the referees room without invitation and breaching operational rules in relation to his behaviour,
Those charges came following his side’s loss against Hull FC in the Challenge Cup on March 15th with the Wigan boss issuing a full apology to the referee and his assistants.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Badly-written as that piece is, this is quite a big story, isn't it?

Glad to see Peet actually having a go at the refs, can't stay silent forever.

Tinfoil hat moment but the reporting on this seems to show a bias against wigan

Highlighting Peet above the others and even the paragraph that is covering the other fines highlights Peet.in bolt before moving to the others.

These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Typical sensationalism - Peets fine is "Massive" and dominates the headline, while Leeds is more and Bease has the same....
