I think harry is a fantastic player but Cleary is better. The biggest difference is that harry seems to be injury free atm.Cleary is getting more and more injuries so lets stick with our harry please.
IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN I WILL BECOME MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE

Why would I want to watch that.

Cleary is the best 7 in the world right now, by a distance. I didn't realise this was a controversial statement.
And in the, let's say, theoretical situation where somehow Wigan could have a free chice between the best half-back in the world and Harry Smith, I cannot believe that anyone would prefer Smith!

Moto I thinks its just loyalty to the local wigan lads that have worked their way through the academy system and become first team players.moto748 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 1:47 pm Cleary is the best 7 in the world right now, by a distance. I didn't realise this was a controversial statement.

It is great to see but for me at the end of the day if you have the chance of signing someone who’s the best in class in their position, local or not, and you have the chance to sign them you do it.

We should get in for him before Leeds, Saints or Wire get him, that is if he comes over here, after the season the Panthers are having then it could be a possibility

If Cleary became available i would hope Wigan would bring him here.To compare Smith with Cleary is simply ludicrous,Only my opinion but Smith is vastly overerrated who has a decent kicking game, defends well but offers little else on a regular basis.

Supposedly we have spoken with him according to a fellow poster on the rlfans

I'm going to caveat this by saying that Cleary is likely the best 7 in the game. By a reasonable distance.
BUT - given the choice of Cleary for a couple of seasons or Smith for potentially the rest of his career (I think he could genuinely be a one club man), I'd probably stick with Smith.
The idea of seeing Cleary in a Wigan kit and leading the lads around is an amazing thought, but Smith isn't exactly crap and IMO is one of the best 7s in SL right now. My long term brain just won't let me go short term enough to go with Cleary on this one.
I'll gladly eat my words if he comes and stays for 3+ seasons
