Warriors given double injury boost ahead of Hull FC clash

Post by Blackpool_Pie »

Wigan Warriors are set for a double boost ahead of their trip to face Hull FC, with Luke Thompson and Adam Keighran both set to return to Matt Peet's 21-man squad. The Warriors will name their extended squad ahead of their clash with the Black and Whites on Sunday and All Out Rugby League understands that both Thompson and Keighran will be included.

England prop Thompson has missed the last two matches with a calf injury, while goal-kicking centre Keighran has missed six weeks of action after suffering an MCL injury in the Challenge Cup defeat to Hull FC in March. But Thompson has been cleared to return to the squad and in an unexpected boost, Keighran has been given a chance of featuring much earlier than expected.

The Australian had been ruled out for eight to ten weeks but six weeks on from suffering the injury, he is set to be named in Peet's squad later today.

It's a timely boost for Wigan as they head to the MKM Stadium, where they have lost on two of their last three visits. Despite their excellent start to the season, John Cartwright's side are yet to win on home soil this season but will be hoping to put that to bed against the champions.

Harvey Barron is set to return for the hosts after a six-week absence through a hamstring injury, but the Black and Whites have lost Jordan Rapana to injury. They remain hopeful that Ed Chamberlain will overcome a shoulder problem picked up last week to feature.

A good surprise that. Interesting to see what happens with Keighran/Eckersley. I've been really impressed with Eckersley and both have different strengths but it does feel like Eckersley hasn't done much to warrent being left out. Once Keighran is up to speed it may be that Miski gets his injury sorted anyway and Eckersley goes on to the wing.

Pleased and relieved if Luke is fit to play. Perhaps this explain why we didn't recall either Chan or Makin from Salford. Very surprised that Adam is back so quickly and I'd imagine that he doesn't actually play this weekend. No need to risk anything with Eckersley playing so well.
