Peet has mentioned this before. As we are doing so well and often dominate possession we should, statistically, be having more penalties and six agains in our favour. Instead our stats resemble those of the teams at the bottom of the league who hardly ever have the ball. We have had two home games this season where zero six agains were awarded in our favour (Leigh & Saints).

People say things even out over a season, well if so the refs will need to start awarding us a dozen penalties per match going forward for that to happen.

I am not one for conspiracy theories but in this case the stats back up the argument Wigan are being treated differently. It’s just not believable every other club is so squeaky clean when defending against Wigan they are not conceding more penalties.

For what it's worth. the referee has been a lot worse in the past. He obviously lacks confidence in his own ability and I know people don't like the video ref but Ben Thaler does get pretty much everything right and isn't afraid to reverse onfield decisions when they are wrong. The RFL seem to be sending refs out as teams elsewhere - Kendall onfield and Rush as video seem to be a regular team.
As for us, we played well for the most part but were sloppy in the first half up to 35 minutes. Unusually, O'Neill (who I like a lot) was guilty at being out of position leaving a large hole down the middle. To his credit, Leeming put a stop to that and that was virtually the end of Price as an attacking force.
Hill needs a sharp word about his discipline and Ellis needs not to run at players when he sees a problem - he was lucky not to get 10 minutes for that.
Thought Hull realised they were being beaten and began to whinge and try and milk penalties. They also ran out of gas just like HKR just around the hour. Knight was lucky not to get a red for that 'tackle' on Harry.
Everyone played well - Nsemba was awesome - just about anyone could have been MOM. That's a good really solid win at a difficult place this season.

I think that's a very fair summing-up, SS.

Lol . He was puffing & blowing obviously short of match fitness. He will be all the better for that run out .

I don't think there's been any refing controversy. Yes its annoying when our good tries go up to the VR, but they got the right decision each time. Nothing ruined as far as I could see.

I have always said that the video ref is a complete waste of time, we need to get rid of it, the refs have become too over-reliant on it, they can't make a decision anymore.
I am expecting the first day of magic to finish at about 11:00pm, with 3 games of inept refereeing.
We would have had two good tries ruled out without the VR. I imagine you'd be calling for it back at that point?

Today seemed much more normal TBH on pens and six agains. I'm not sure why Matt was quite so down at the end.

We benefitted from Hull dropping the ball a lot today, so didn't have to dig deep in defence. Seemed quite a sloppy game because of that. We put on a good attacking show and we capitalised on their mistakes nicely. Happy with the win against a team that have already shown they can come back if we get too sloppy. Not as down on the ref as others, the two seemed to get most of the decisions right. Maybe the PTB was too slow? It didn't seem too different to anything we see most weeks to me though.

Was good to see us making plenty of positive yardage in our sets today. Moving up the field didn't seem a problem and we had plenty of territory. Good stuff from the wingers and forwards.

I agree with Mike there. The six agains/pens situation is obviously an issue, but it didn't seem clear to me either that this game was a shining example of it.

Yep. And if there were no video refs, and it was just the onfield ref, Miski's effort would have been NoTry every day of the week.
