This is a long thread, and not the first one, which is primarily about refs and their decisions. The aim of clubs and the RFL is to "engage" with fans. (The IMG even includes online or social media engagement as one of its criteria.)

Therefore the people arguing against too many replays and overuse of the video ref are inadvertently helping to persuade the powers that be to keep doing what they do, or even give us more.

Just a thought! :D
100%. If there was nothing to complain about, "engagement" would drop through the floor!

Oh come on.

Trying to stop Wiganers from having a good moan is like trying to stop the tide from coming in!

NOT going to happen.

You are not being serious you? The implication is the RFL are deliberately pissing the fans off to secure engagement? Really?

Regarding the inordinate length of time it took to come to a decision on the Miski try. I got the feeling that Ben Thaler wanted to see the two camera angles (one showing the grounding, the other the touchline from behind) in sync together before he made a decision and the director, for whatever reason, took his time giving him that. He (Thaler) said a few times that he was waiting for the "TX", or something like that, to confirm what he already seemed to think.

Whatever, I get as fed up as the next person with the seemingly interminable delays, but happy to accept it this time, as without the VR Miski would have been denied one of the most improbable scores I have ever seen.

You're probably right, and in that case I was perhaps a little unfair to Thaler. But he stuck to it, and got there in the end. But it still doesn't make the time taken acceptable. In real time, I didn't think it was a try for a moment, and I can't imagine many did. Even Miski looked bemused.

TX = time stamp.

If we had the appropriate tech this would be fast and standard. However, we can't even reset a clock at the moment, so mutl-camera feeds in sync to multiple monitors at all games is obviously well out of reach for us.

Agreed Mike and this is why the captains challenge should be scrapped at least till such times as they can acquire the tech needed or if it is there someone who knows how to implement it properly

Ive just watched the highlights again and accept the miski try time due to obvious reasons.Now the first french try was ridiculous how he rechecked the put down even though smith was basically holding frenchys hand.He should of just checked the onside, job done.By the way we moan coz we want the game to be better and concentrate on the game and not controversy.Like i said previously IF we had lost it would have been easy to have a go at officials like a lot of fans do.We want consistency and fun or else we might end up watching a game as boring as Union, baseball and NFL stop start nonsense
IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN I WILL BECOME MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE

I was brought up on trips back from Wigan games with th grown ups endlessly asking each other “who missed that tackle” after the most comfortable of victories. It’s a noble tradition.
As for Canute, I read that he has been unfairly misunderstood, and his act was to demonstrate that it was impossible even for a king to stop the tide coming in. He must be furious in heaven/providence/St Helens.
