Err...what financial mess? We're making a profit, unlike our 'blue' friends.
That may be so, but in real terms we are not making anywhere near as much as is neccessary to reclaim the dominance that we once had.
Also, I think you will find the Latics loss was for the last financial year.
I have a sneaky feeling that with their 19 live Sky games, of which each home one generates at least £500,000 and their CC Final appearance, their final league position and the giaranteed £20M off Sky, they may just make a bob or two this season.
Not forgetting the increased value of each squad member, I don't think we should even start to ridicule them at a miserley £10M loss last year.
FFS they buy reserve team players for more than the world record for a RL player.
Jealous, too bl**dy right I am. We used to be the major sporting team in this town, but that title is well and truly theirs now.I'm not in the least bit bitter though.
Hello Horsey; or should I call you Mr Ed ( not that I'm that old ).
One thing I want to understand: how much is it to get on the JJB at a Latics game. I'm told it's 40 or 50% more expensive than watching our Warriors. So if you multiply that by the size of the gates; then they will earn more revenue than our average gate receipts. Anyway, every team has it's day and everything goes in cycles. We can only hope that our turn is not to far away !!!

Wouldn't have a clue at the cost now, it were about 6 quid the last time I went to watch them.
You have a point there though, I never thought of their actual income from ticket sales. £20 X 21,000 X 20 or so home games, plus the cup matches that a fair few quid in itself.
I'm even more pi**ed off now.
They don't give em away free like our idiots either, my bothers kids have only actually paid to get on about 5 times since we moved to the JJB.
His eldest stopped going when he left school and couldn't get in for nowt.
Sometimes I get on for free !
I know this steward ( no names mentioned ) lets us in through the side door on the west stand. I usually bung him a fiver for me and two mates.
Think he's a footy fan, so he doesn't give a toss !
If anyone finds out, there will be a RIOT.
He also reckons theres a bit of crowd fixin going on. Not sure what he's on about though.

Not you aswell, is he the one from Scholes who is normally known by punters as Steward No:??
I thought he got sacked yonks ago. I might just have a look around the West Stand next match and renew my aquaintances with him.
A couple of freebies would help the finances no end, especially as what we are seeing at the JJB at the moment ain't really worth paying for anyway.

Thanks for the support. What a supporter of the club you are.

I bet he spends a packet on ale and pies though when he gets in.

No one is going to be leaving the JJB.
Both clubs have leases to stay there.
Neither club owns the stadium.
they are both tennants.
Mr Whelan does not own the stadium.
One of his companies does.
That company is in turn owned by another of his companies.
The Council do have a stake in the stadium although its not very big.
The ground was part funded via grants for it being a multi use stadium. Also via grants from the football trust and the money from the sale of CP and springfield road.
And yes it was going ahead without us
(although I must be honest I do wonder what it would have been like. Before we were going there as well which opened up other sources of income and tax breaks the bull dozers seemed to do an awful lot of moving mounds of rubble from a-b then b-c then c-a and so on. nothing seemed to be happening there as if someone was waiting for something that they knew had to happen. Something worth waiting for, like maybe a change in owner?????
If only all these people who seem to care so much now had cared at the time who knows...
I Love Wigan RL.
I did love Central Park!
I do not have the same feelings for the JJB and i doubt I ever will.
