I wouldn't say that Lindsay was backing Millward at all. The interview I heard on Wish FM had Lindsay skirting around the answer like a politician. He wouldn't commit to giving a definitive answer to whether Millwards job was at risk.DaveO posted:

ML backed Millward really stongly very recently and said Wigan don't sack coaches in this position or words to that effect saying no one was calling for Tony Smiths head at Wakey despite (at the time) them being in the same situation as us.
This is such a complete U turn on that I really don't think he was in favour of this at all.

In sacking Millward so soon into his contract (<1/3 way through) the board admits that they are not a good judge of coach, are they the best person to choose the next coach? Is a coach going to want to take on the poison chalice if he is living in constant fear of unemployment?
