Bloody hell i spent ages replying to this then the site crashed and i have had to start again.
Where do i start on this one. Dave do you dissect posts to make directly replying difficult?
No, the reason I do it is explained here:
http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/2000/06/14/quoting.html
Here is a quote form the artical:
"Summary: the best way to arrange the quoted and new text is to insert the new text on new lines within the quoted text, so that it always immediately follows the relevant portion of the quoted text."
This has been around for years as the acceptefd way to respond to usenet and email and works just as well here in my opinion.
I assume you have never used Usenet? If you did and you didn't follow these guidlines you would quickly be told off.
I know he didnt sell CP you told me this a couple of years ago. His poor financial control over the years he was in charge was a massive factor in the end result.
Whether it was a massive factor is debateable in my opinion. He left in 1992 and Robinsin went in 1997. Five years is a long time for Mo's financial influence to be a massive factor.
In my opinion the two biggest factors were the cost of the Whitbread stand and the salary bidding war the club entered into to retain the services of players like Conolly and Robinson.
Some great signings all down to MO agree. Lam for coach not me mate and i have posted this and my opinion 2 days ago. His best signing in the last five years was Furner but due to him being unable to control the wage bill we had to sell him to Leeds who were on the up.And they are building and winning titles where as we are are bottom of the league.
Leeds success is no better than ours in the SL era. One GF win and one CC win. That is all.
It is certainly true we were lumbered with some big contracts when the flst rate salary cap came in but that was IMO a stich up by G Hethrington and C Caisley. They were the main architects of the flat rate cap.
There was argument about what level the cap should e at and it was set in such a way as Leeds and Bradford did not need to shed players.
Quite a few clubs wanted it set lower but when it was set it matched both Leeds and Bradford wage bill so they did not have to scrabble about working out who to sell.
At the time G Hethrington was quoted as saying only one club would be affected.
They could have asked Wigan how long the longest contract was and phased it in over a few years but instead gave a one year dispensation and then that was it. Wigan were theonly club who had to change their playing staff due to the cap so if they didn't do it very well who is to say other clubs would have handled it better?
I have tried in my post to be fair in the situation and not sack him cos i dont like anymore. He could quite easily step down from the board and take more responsibility at the Latics.Unless he does this the same people will have the same conversation. This time we will have lost yet another manager. As you say changing coaches isnt the solution our stats prove this.
As i say the shortened version and i hope this clears my opinion up.
I don't think Mo is guilty of half of what he is accused of. I don't think he sacked Millward off his own bat either.
