INTO THE FIRE WE NEARLY WERE THEN CAME A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR

 Having watched Wigan for over thirty years
and been there when relegated, and then return to the then first division. If Whealan and Mo hade not took the drastic action of sacking Millward we would have been relegated without a shadow of a doubt.
The way they were playing bore all the hallmarks of the year we wre relegated. No hope no passion lack of commitment no pride in the shirt they wore.
you think that the players brought in due to injuries are poor. What we had as to contend with then, were no better than plucking somebody out of the pub to play.
I remember when M. Bamford was in change, we used to stay behind at away games and got to know him and we used to bend is ear about selection and at the time they were crap, one day he said to us well you pick the team you all think you can do better. So we did we told the players we thought would should play.

Thought no more about thinking he was taking the p--s but next match he did play all the players we picked GUESS WHAT WE STILL LOST.

To the present what a day Brian Noble at Wigan now we will see action he wiil sort the men from the boys and the slackers. We will now only go onwards and upwards. GOD BLESS WHELAN and MO

IIRC we finished about 15 points from the bottom in our relegation year. That year 4 teams went down. The situation we are in at the moment is far worse than that.

How is it Millward's fault if our players have no pride in the shirt?

Don't expect miracles from Noble unless we get all players fit real quick and they stay that way or we spend money on SL standard signings.

I dont think it was necesserily the players having no pride in their shirt whilst millward was there. I think they just didnt click with Millward a case of ego clashes and if it wasnt then we'll see within the next 2/3 weeks now nobles taken over. He went down today to introduce himself to the players, which seems good of him, shows he's committed already and hopefull that pride will be shown on saturday!

This may be extreme but nothing would surprise me. Millward had left for the Quins game but they was no improvement in team spirit, no example of our major obstacle having been removed. They just went through the motions as they have for most of the season.

I didn't expect them to win, but I did expect them to play as a team. However, charitable soul that I am I am willing to put that down to the uncertainty in the camp and the useless input from our assistant coaches.

Noble is here now though. He can't make too much in the way of changes but the players certainly can. They now know the future and need to start immediately playing with a purpose, just as every other team in the division is doing.
