No Players from bradford
Just read an article where bradford have apparently said that none of their players are going to follow nobby.
Is this to keep the fans happy or will the sight of whealan,s cheque book be to appealing in thier finatial state?

O/T but i couldnt be fussed starting another thread. Dad was listening to the sports news on GMR and there was a wigan fan ringing in and the presenter said what about your new coach, they must have total faith in him maurice has said if he's not successful then him and the rest of the board will resign

Re: No Players from bradfo...
I think Bradford will have to try to retain players until the season ends in order to maintain the confidence of their supporters. To be fair, you would not expect them to say anything else either. The debts are very real though and for them to deny they exist is ludicrous. Whatsmore, after the London debacle, the Inland Revenue and similar finance / taxation bodies are far hotter on collecting money from RL clubs.
I remember Widnes saying Martin Offiah was not for sale. I would love to see Whelan offer £500,000 for Fielden and see how the Bulls react.

Don`t get me wrong Noble is a great appointment, however the rift with saints had led us to a dissapionting situation with a refusal to deal with us. do you thing nobles appointment has started a similar rift with bradford.
Noble is class however, and i cant wait for tommorrow!!!

Re: No Players from bradfo...
Will the Saints rift still be there, seeing as Millward isn't our coach anymore? Don't think there will be one with Bradford because I think part of the reason he left was because of a fall out with some of the Bulls staff, and the others wanted him to stay and probably have nothing against him. Also, I thought Saints broke links with Millward because he did something at the club (the reason he was fired) and it was never released into the public.wiganbythesea posted:

Actuallly, the Wigan - Saints issue is as much between Dave Whelan and the McChuckle brothers and the rest of their board. DW refused to allow a couple of members of the Saints board into the boardroom at Wigan for a derby game a few years ago, for reasons I can't quite remember now but I think they're ex-Wigan directors who were involved in the Tesco/CP sell-off....Champions posted:Will the Saints rift still be there, seeing as Millward isn't our coach anymore? RL: Whelan's double whammy (3rd October 2001)
WIGAN Warriors owner Dave Whelan has imposed a lifetime boardroom ban on two St Helens directors.
Whelan will not allow Arthur Thomas, a former Wigan chairman, and Jim Hartley who were involved in the sale of the club’s former Central Park ground, to use the boardroom at the JJB Stadium.
The business duo were banned for an end of season Super League fixture and will be denied access at this Saturday’s play off semi-final.
Angry Saints directors boycotted the last game in protest at Whelan’s action and could do the same again this time.
Whelan said: ‘‘These two men are banned from my Wigan boardroom for as long as I live.
‘‘In my opinion they are not genuine Saints supporters - no-one goes from supporting one club and then starts supporting their arch rivals.
‘‘I must stress this lifetime ban only applies to these two men.
‘‘Everyone else with a genuine association to St Helens is welcome at the JJB Stadium boardroom - especially directors like Eric Ashton.
‘‘Thomas and Hartley will still receive first class hospitality and other things but they can forget even thinking about coming into the boardroom.
‘‘They were banned last time and this was not a one off - I’m telling them it’s for life with what they did.’’

Saints are set to issue a statement towards the end of the week giving their response to Whelan’s action.
Director Jim Hartley also works with the Rugby Football League’s Great Britain set-up in a managerial role.
He is the stepbrother of controversial former Wigan chairman Jack Robinson who regularly clashed with Whelan after refusing to hand over control of the club and Central Park to the business tycoon.
Howver, Wigan’s crippling financial plight in the early 1990’s left Robinson with no alternative other than to quit.
He was briefly succeeded by Arthur Thomas and the sale of Central Park to supermarket chain Tesco was then completed.
Whelan stepped in to save the club by taking over the controlling shares and transferring operations to the JJB.

Re: No Players from bradfo...
i can more or less assure u that there will be no rift between u and us guys. all the bradford fans know why nobby left and i dont blame him either. our board treat him like crap and more or less handed him 2 u. at odsal im sure u all know the top house pub? all you see is bradford fans and wigan fans talking and drinking. you'd never see that with a scummy saint or a rhino. FACT!
Re: No Players from bradfo...
Me and my dad went to Bradford last year, and before the game, went in a pub for a drink (I don't know the name of it). We were the only Wigan fans in and it was crowded with Bradford speccies, but instead of making any comments at us or shunning us to the side, some fans offered us seats and asked us if we wanted to share their table. Don't think there will be a problem with Bradford as there never has been before...I think the Saints problem was a mixture of Millward leaving, the DW thing and the fact the clubs are such big rivals.bradford bull posted:

Bradford Bull, do you think the debts actually exist?
I took the view from a Wigan perspective that had Caisley still been at the helm, Noble would nopt have left. However, he is clearly not impressed by the post Caisley board.
