Help me solve a debate..

Post by Dynorod »

..can somebody kindly assist me on this please?

Does the referee get anything extra for going to the screen? I have been told he gets £50 every time he uses the screen, which imo shows why they are always using it for every decision!!

Sounds a bit ridiculous to me, unless the league can guarantee that every referee has an equal number of televised games every year, also taking into account the fact that Catalans home games are televised as well. If it were true, and some refs were able to benefit more than others, then the rest woulnd't be happy.

I've heard that rumour around town, too. Seems highly unlikely, though.

The sponsors of the official time keeping for the sky games, TISSOT, donated 50 squid to the refereeing body at the RFL every time that a try decision went to the screen as well as supplying a watch to skys m-o-m.

I'm not aware of the contractual details of the current sponsors.

Hope that helps

That seems ridiculous, especially if a forward pass is involved i.e. - Dallas try? Common sense should prevail in these circumstances, but then again we are talking about the rfl!

Does Halpenny get £50 for every reef out then?

when tisot spaonsored the rugby league the ref got £50 every time he went to the big screen because as you waited for the decision you used to see that big TISSOT symbol spinning around before the decision was made.

no matter who you are or what you do.... we will always be better than you.....
