Scousers

Post by billyboy »

Did anyone listen to the phone-in on Radio Manchester yesterday? It was hilarious.
The first caller was a Scouser complaining that Hock had got away with two high tackles. A Wigan fan sent in a text along the lines of "Surprise, surprise, the first call a whingeing Scouser."
Hell Fire, did that upset the Stains! They were phoning in, sending texts and e-mails complaining about being called Scousers. Talking about the M58 being the dividing line, East are Scousers, West it's St. Helens who are not Scousers.
One brain dead moron phoned in complaining and seemed to be on the verge of a heart attack when the guy in the studio said "Well, you speak like a Scouser." and "You soon get wound up don't you?"
The last clown was the funniest of the lot. He wasn't a Scouser (he said) but he was married to one. He would always marry a Scouser, but never, never a Wiganer. He hopes we go down and never come back up.
Since St.Helens is such a no mark of a place (it has a Warrington post-code) and has 'Liverpool, City of Culture' on it's strip, is in the geographical county of Merseyside they are quite obviously Scousers.
I wonder where the famous Scouse humour has gone?

well if being in the geographical area of merseyside makes all st helens folk scousers, then that must mean all wiganers are mancs (being in the geographical area of greater manchester) and i think if you had listened to the phone in correctly the caller was complaining about the weak refering skills of ashley klein yet again, and also gave referance to a couple of bad decisions for both sides. as for the rest of the calls you seem to be very much exadurating their content by a mile. a great game, 99% of fans have something contructive to say about the game wether they be wigan fans or not. then there are always the 1% like you who have a moronic view and stance. that was without a doubt the most pathetic post i have ever read on any message board... ever. Thank god fans like you are in the minority

Not you too! WS I'm a little surprised at you. Where's your sense of humour? The term Scousers is meant as an insult as is Pies and Goons for Wigan Fans. I didn't hear the phone in, but I have yet to meet a Saints fan who takes the Scouser dig in good spirit. From the above post, it seems you're no different. Gotta say that that surprises me, but hey....

As for the game, you're right it was a great one and there has been a lot of constructive comment on this board, including your own. However I also was stuck among a crowd of Saints fans on the way out of the game constructively singing "Wigan are going down like a Russian Submarine".....
Should we do as the Scousers do when someone had a dig. Boris Johnson made a comment and they shot up in anger.

Yet its ok for them to make inappropriate comments. Oh yes when they do it its there legendary humor.

There like next doors dog can dish it but cant take ut. Bloody Hypocritse all of them.

i couldn't care less about the scouser thing. i come from shevington. i was just pounting out that if people from merseyside are scousers, then we must be mancs ?

as for a sense of humour, I think we all know that the first post was posted with anything but a sense of humour. it was a snide post and was totally irrelevant to the game. most phone ins are 80% full of idiots whinging about something, so why post on here a post like that. This is one of the best fan sites there is, excellent banter and 90% of the posts are rugby related. so why post slagging off a few people who phoned a phone in on GMR ???

I know about all the banter between wigan and saints fans. do you realise what a sense of humour i needed growing up in wigan during the mid 80's and early 90's ??? leaving school and being the only saints fan in the plough and harrow after being beaten by wigan again and again.

Don't let them get to you scouser mate, er Shevingtonian, its only coz we've gained bragging rights for the first time in nearly 2 decades.
They just ain't accustomed to being a supporter of a struggling side.

They will get better though...the NL1 needs a strong Wigan
