Higham vs Newton

Post by Wigan_forever1985 »

I would just like to have my say on the debate of Newton vs Higham.

Firstly id like to say i think Newton is a fine player and his ball handling skills are second to none. However Higham is world class the only reason he doesn't look like it at the mo is none of our players back him up. Newton for all his skills is a lazy hooker only making a couple of runs from dummy half per game. He has possibly the best forwards in the game, good centres and wingers with a commanding scrum half to back him up they give him time and the back up to look really good.

Higham however has part time forwards who only good for 10 mins, 1 good center, wingers that rarely come in field and until recently the most inept scrum half superleague has seen. He is very understated his go forward is excellent! and his work in defence is amazing, he gets through loads of tackles every game and never gives a single penalty away. He is 100% professional and when players like Dobson start running with him and backing him up he will be electric. His pace is fantastic and he can turn games around he just needs support. So i think we should let Tez get on with it at Bradford and give Mickey and Godwin our full fledged support becuase both of them have given their all in every game so far this season.

Terry created and scored a fair bit for us last year and was man of the match many times. Higham was an impact player last year and terry an 80 minuter for us. But now both players have sort of done a role reversal and i still feel that on the balance of things the flat line balls that terry gives allows a team to attack on the front foot whereas half the attacks this season has been behind players and going nowhere, but i hope that changes.

You must be joking,Newton is different class than Higham. He is harder in the tackle has a better rugby brain and never gives in.Higham can run from dummy half, particularly in the last quarter but thats all.Millward said hes going to be the best hooker in the world soon,is that why Millward let him go from Stains and kept Cunningham and Roby.We want Tes back asap

an 80 minuter? he hasnt even seent he eightieth minute. he is either sin binned or out of steam. he was interchanging with wagga. he cant play 80 mins he isnt fit enough. stick with higham..... newton has moved on so we should to.

Even if he didnt do all the 80 last year in every game, he gave more than anyone did for the entire 80 and could create more than any other, so he may as well have been an 80 minuter.

wingers that rarely come in field.?

I hope you are having a laugh with that comment Wigan_forever19, Why do you think Dallas gets so many high shots off the oposition forwards?, Because he is always coming inside to help out, Lets face it if he stayed on the wing he would never get the ball would he?.

Fine his go forward is ok but his passing and offloads are poor and only looked good amongst go forward players in the saints pack when he was impact player there. Higham i think is a good player but some players dont suit playing in a different style, whereas i think terry can adapt in any team and i think it's been shown in a GB shirt as well Newton is a much better back up to Cunningham than Higham ever was.
