If they can pay Fielden why not Radlinksi?
I thought they had hit their salary cap - how can they afford Fielden then?
You can take the girl out of Wigan, but you can't take Wigan out of the girl!

I dont know how the could afford fielden, unle mo said last week (about raders) that the cap was full, hence playing for free... (even though kris got a bumper packet of cash when he retired first time mround)...
Possibly offloading someone from the team, like they did with Moron when Dobson cae on board.
but who? I dont care, we've got a class Prop, exactly what we need, a man on top of his game

More likely negotiations had been ongoing with Fielden for some time, and Maurice already knew what the eventual outcome would be and so had already taken that money off the amounts available. Remember, we were also in the hunt for PJ not too long ago, so there must have been some money available despite what ML was claiming. I suspect Rads coming back was an extra thing that perhaps hadn't been budgeted for, but at the same time it is very typical of the type of bloke Kris is that he's prepared to play for free.ancientnloyal posted:

On the face of it, ML has perhaps been economical with the truth claiming there is no salary cap money available, and Bradford's chairman has perhaps not been entirely honest in claiming that none of his players were leaving. These deals don't happen overnight, and someone must have approached him about this before his statement last weekend in order to come up with a suitable price. Or have we just gambled that £450k would be enough to tempt the club and it's all been done in the last day or so...?

Re: If they can pay Fielde...
I hadnt have thought of the Fraggle. It makes complete sense though. I think the announcement about Fielden would be done at the right moment (now) and when Mo said we had no funds available, perhaps Wigan were in the finishing touches of contract negotiations.
If Mo had said we have money to spend, and there was a leak, then things may have been different.
But good dealing by mr lindsay it seems. Whatever people say about Maurice and DaveyBoy... they always seem to get their man! (in most cases)

A spot will have been saved for fielden in the hope we got PJ, Newton or Fielden. Plus i believe Rads offered his services without wanting to be paid, its not that they didnt want to pay him; he wanted to help wigan out, the moneys not important to him.

We are the fans not the administration of the club - if you are a Wigan fan just be glad they are pulling out all the stops to keep us in with a chance of survival in super league and let all the trolls and opposition fans go grey worrying about salary caps etc. Most of us don't know how the cap works anyway - ok we know the basics but not all the in's and outs - leave that for others to work out. As for Rads well that is just the sort of thing he would do - what a star! - and probably he got paid up on his contract when he had to give up earlier in the year. Still hope he gets something for his sheer passion and enthusiasm for the club he loves.#1 warrior princess posted:

Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Salary cap
I thought we were at the limit so how do we pay Fieldens wages?Put it through JJB or our other fairy god mothers Dave Whelan and Wigan Athletic.
Re: Salary cap
I have already seen it posted that Fielden is on £180K a year. Personally given the extraigance of the club with wages in the past I'd have gone for £250K a year.lionmmark posted:

Given there is only half a season less even with my estimate he will pocket at most £125K.
Win bonuses count toward the cap so pre-seaosn Wigan must have budgeted for a few of those and very few have been forthcoming have they !!
So I reckon we will be under the cap easily enough. Even so this might explain rumours of players being loaned out.
