i like fielden, but.................

Post by wiglol »

i was pleased to hear of the signing of fielden, he is a great fella, both on and off the pitch, he has a great attitude and his positive thinking and energy appears to have rubbed off on some of the lads who seemed to be a little disheartned.

however.....i am sick to death of hearing about this "record transfer" and how our "big money signing" is starting to repay us by producing the goods. There was no need for fielden to be talking about how the money was just too good to turn down, not when we're having to offload players to make way for him.

I am well aware that its fact of day to day business to send players on loan, these players arent producing the goods for you and so you need to tidy up the situation, i was sad to see kev brown leave as i remember him in the youth teams when he was star for them, he then made first team and although over confident at times, he's worked hard and is well aware of what he needs to do for a future at wigan.

i say good luck to those out on loan, make the most of it and hopefully they all have a cherry and white future.

as for fielden, welcome to our world, but less of the money talk please.

As to the record transfer fee did you expect Bradford to give him a free transfer? The transfer fee does not come out of the salary cap and is not the reason why Wigan need to loan out players.

As to what Fielden said where has he said the money was too good to turn down? The quote from the BBC web site is:

"A new challenge and a much bigger salary made the decision easy for me."

If you can find me a quote where he said what you wrote above, fair enough but I certainly do not recall him using that phrase.

He has only himself to blame that he, as opposed to some other player, was selected to go out on loan.

Less of the money talk? He mentioned it once as far as I know and was simply being honest saying he is getting more than at Bradford.

I think you need to get your head around the idea RL is a professional sport where players get paid. Fielen has secured his future on a four year deal and has been open about it and you are having a go at him? If he honours his side of the bargain what is the problem?

Would you have rather Fielden lied through his teeth and said it was nothing to do with money?

He also said this:

"This a great opportunity for me and I jumped at the chance to work with Brian Noble once more.
I have had a great time at Bradford and would like to thank everyone at the club. This is a
new challenge for me and one I am looking forward to. Despite the current position Wigan are
a huge club with an exciting future."

I suppose the club could not have paid a record fee or not tempted him to sign by offering him a better wage, kept Kevin Brown and others on the books till the end of the season and dutilfully accepted its fate of relegation.

There is just no pleasing some people.

You will find that the transfer fee with Fielden and any othe player for any other team DOES in fact come under the salary cap rule.

You'll find it's called a SALARY cap for a reason, Ant. It is not a salary & transfer cap.

Unbelievable.

Wake up, so you're telling me that we are paying our whole squad £1.25 million this year to stay under the cap.
