To be honest, i would much rather we had kept hold of Hodgeson than Aspinwall. A lot more pace and is playing out of his skin at Salord.

Re: Aspinwall
Dodgy had only one good season in three, although I'm not sure how much of a chance people really gave him after his bad injury. But certainly he was not delivering the goods during his final season at Wigan and based on that form we were right to let him go.Martin Taylor posted:

The same goes for Aspinwall; he was a superb prospect playing centre to replace Connolly when he first appeared, but he never made the step up from there and kept getting swapped from centre to wing and back. His defence suffered and he was always paired with another player without much pace so we looked bad on that side of the pitch. Again, his performances in his final season were not much to shout about and based on that form we were right to get rid.
Most people on here couldn't wait to get rid of either of them, funny how people see things differently after the event...

Re: Aspinwall
One winger I wish had stayed at Wigan longer was Ray Mordt. Wingers I'd have back are chicka, hendy, offiah, preston and jason robinson.
The wingers being mentioned fit into the Gary Henley Smith / Ronnie Braithwaite category. Others that deserve a mention in this group are Phil Stott and Richard Russel the winger!
Wingers that fit neither category; Rob Smyth, Dave Marshall, David Myers, Mark Bell

I liked Robinson but I dont think his return will happen. Pretty much because of the circumstances in which he left, talking to the papers about Pongias illness. I liked Aspinwall but if he comes back to Wigan Id have him in the other centre.bigkarl posted:
